I started reading Gemmell last year, and I like his writing.
His use of the "flawed hero" makes his characters seem more human and less "goody, goody". Any other fans here? (I think he's bigger in the UK than the US). |

I've read whatever books i can find of his at my library...he's quite good And you're right about the flawed hero aspect of his writing.
He was the one that wrote the Towers trilogy (or something..??) right? And Waylander?, ahvn't read the Towers. Or was that not Gemmel?

He wrote the Drenai saga (Waylander, druss the legend, etc.), the Stones of Power Series (Jon Shannow), and most recently the Rigante Series. Very good writer. |

Gemmell is a very talented writer... I started with the Druss saga, graduated to the Waylander series, and am waiting for the continuation of his latest series...
I really should check out the Stones of Power series next... The flawed character premise has been tried by many an author, and Gemmell has done it quite well... The only other author who has created a teriffic flawed character has been Donaldson's Thomas Covenant...

I love his books.
Waylander, for example, is one of the best fantasy stories I have ever read. The Drenai saga is just great.
