I am on my third trip through this awesome game. I have a two member (Sam/Bard) party. I am currently in the Rapax castle, my characters are at level 26/28 respectively. Here is my dilema...
I have lost the ability to identify items using scrolls. My bard has INT 101, SENSES 65, and ARTIFACT 87, yet I cannot identify any of the higher level items, (e.g. the Lute of Restoration, and many others which names I cannot remember.) Is there a spreadsheet, much like the magic/spell one, that tells what level your attributes need to be to identify any given item from any given level?. Does anyone have any insight into this? BTW, I love this game. I have never played a Wiz game before and if any of them were half as polished as this one, I have certainly missed out. [ 04-16-2002, 05:18 PM: Message edited by: Playa ] |

I believe Scrolls of Identify cast the Identify spell as power level 4, which probably isn't enough to id the more powerful items.

You can always sell the item to a shop keeper and buy it back, that will get it identified for you.

The senses attribute controls how well a character can ID something as well as controlling some aspects of close combat. The higher the senses value and artifacts value the likelier you will ID high level items without using the spell. If you use the spell, it will automatically calibrate itself to the power needed but will not work sometimes. So save before casting Indentify and try again.
