What are people's favorite critters to come across in a dungeon? I'm not talking about forests or caves, no ma'am. I want to know what people WANT to see in a dungeon crawl of epic proportions. (Sure there will be a forest and some caves, even a city or two and perhaps some catacombs...) Give me some feedback, please, and I can pretty much guarantee that a part of this dungeon will resemble, if not be, your favorite dungeon. -manikus |

Ok, not really...
but what I think would be cool is a creature that shapeshift's, so when you approach it, it just looks like a wall, and when you get too close, it attack's.... Or something like that |

There are several AD&D creatures like this. The most famous is the 'mimic' which in the old monster manual had a picture of a treasure chest that had just grown a mouth and claws. Also, there was the 'cloaker' which pretended to be part of the dungeon ceiling and would drop on unsuspecting adventurers. There were also creatures that looked like stalagmites and would drop on adventurers as well. -manikus |

This is a tough one, there are just so many great monsters to choose from. However, one of my personal favourites has always been the Dracolich. Not sure why, I just think it is an awesome monster and one that any self respecting adventuring party would fear to meet in a dark dungeon.

One I always liked out of Ravenloft - I think it was called a 'living wall' - made up of those it pulls into itself.
It's just plain creepy. Other than that, a very powerful lich with some death knights. If you insist on living creatures, give me a multi-headed hydra or a beholder any day |

These are all good ideas and most of my favorites as well. I do wonder how I might fit the ninjas into my dungeon, though. -manikus |
