Default Bea Arthur dies at 86.

I always pictured being like her when I got older. I always said that when I turned 50, my voice would drop three octaves and I'd be twice as angular, and then there'd be no way to distinguish us.

Her biting wit and gorgeous alto voice will be missed.

I always liked her humor style, sarcasm and irony, my favorites. But I've always liked strong (not "butch") personality women anyway.

I only knew her through the golden girls tv show, and that I did not watch much. It's always sad when someone you know from tv dies it's like a very distant relative passing away.

You know, I started telling people she died, and EVERYBODY KNEW BECAUSE IT HAPPENED A WEEK AGO. I demanded to know why nobody told me and why I had to find out from the cover of some stupid magazine at the grocery store, and the universal response was that they "didn't want to upset me." Great job.
