Default Spring is here

Sheez, some folks still have debris from the ice storm, the kids will remain in school an extra 36 minutes daily for 10 days to nullify the snow days from the ice storm, and we have the second tornado of the year. It's March for basketball month for crying out loud. Yet throughout the normally tranquil country side, lawn mowers are running, crop fields are being plowed, barns are wide open for ventilation, and through it all, I've already got a sun burn!

The plum trees are blooming, however, the peach trees are still holding, yet both maples have already gone to bloom. The last frost date is still 21 days away, but alas, one cannot intervene with nature!

Anybody need some 70 degree Kentucky weather with sunshine?

I had that today. After two days of decent rain our canals are up to the brim.

We're getting snow, starting around supper time. Could be up to 20cm.

Thumbs Up Re: Spring is here

Sure is on saturdaty people had there shirts off than in less than a 1/2 hour the temperture dropped to 1C and even got cooler. On Sunday I shoveled all the white spring stuff and piled it all in the centre of the yard, then I dug out the inside so you could see the nice blue light coming through the walls. Might as well make it fun with all the snow. My 4 year old calls it the Dragon Cave. I have not made one of those dug out igloos since I was a kid but I remember my Dad occassionally doing them for me so sort of a tradition I guess.
