Heart Back to my roots

Hey there,

After a long sabbatical from Baldur's Gate II, I was feeling all nostaglic lately and decided I wanted to give it another run through again. After re-playing it to death a year or so ago, I wanted to give it a rest and give myself chance to 'forget' some of the things that occur in the game so that when I take it up again, it will feel slightly more fresh.

My question, or questions, are:

i) Will the game run on Vista, and if so has anyone encountered any problems with it thus far?

and more importantly:

ii) Can anyone recommend an intensive list of top notch mods to get in order to make the game more expansive. I am talking new NPCs, new quests, the whole shabam.

Thanks,

C

I can't help much with mods or anything, but I can say that I've had zero issues getting the game to run on Vista. so you should be ok there.

There is a thread by ZFR regarding mods here: http://www.ironworksforum.com/forum/...d.php?t=100471

And I had recently installed the whole BG1 thru BG2 tutu package. Where some of the forum members helped with install orders here: http://www.ironworksforum.com/forum/...d.php?t=100417

Just adding a second opinion, because it's important: No problems with Vista here. Install the game, and it runs fine.

As to mods, FirestormAlpha linked a very informative thread.

Good luck to you!

No problems on Vista, I did the Big Picture mod, but I haven't yet finished the game. It might be difficult finding where the saved files are on vista, but there is an old thread about that if you search for it.

I always found the save files in the game folder where they belong. This is not always the case with all games.

Thumbs Up Re: Back to my roots

Me too it has been quite some time since I have played BGII and I just started a new game the other night. Don't know anything about VISTA has I have been avoiding it. I expect within a year maybe two MS will have a new operating system out.

It has been at least a few years since I have played and it does feel almost new.

It works fine with Vista once you use the "compatible" option.

That said, I haven't managed to get the cheats/clua console working.

Any advice would be appreciated.

For enabling the cheats in vista, you have to click on "compatibility files" I think and open the folder from there. There should be a thread about this too, or just google it, you should find an answer right away

A buddy of mine ran BG1 and 2 just fine on Vista. Although I have a personal preference for XP. Anyway, you should be fine.
