We all get stuck at Lvl 20, but when fully done up, what is the most powerful character? What feats are the best? What weapons? Or which character do just love to be? I quite like being a MONK or Theif - but as far as equipment goes - I think that you cant beat a nice big GREATSWORD Although the criticals on a sycthe are amazing

cleric is probably the most powerful/versatile

For example:
Dwarven Cleric with un-altered stats at 20th is:
16 stre
4 dex
19 con
8 int
20 wis
6 cha
now using the maximize spell feat along with stat boosting spells you can raise all stats by +5.
using non-player made equipment you could go with:
Red dragonscale
Cloak of protection +5
Hammer of thunderbolts
Hastsezinis Shield
Boots of speed
Ring of power
Amulet of the silent lord
Ring of regeneration
Belt of Fire giant strength
Bracer and helm of choice - i go with the +5 dex bracer and the helm of persuasion usually so i dont have to buff dex

I usually only buff stre con cha and barkskin
but heres the equipment worn + buffs
26 stre
13 dex
28 cons
8 int
20 wis
13 cha
46 ac
308 hp
Attack bonus: +29/+24/+19

the domains i prefer are magic and plant, but you could go plant and air or some other combo of plant and X.

So basically, this cleric has the raw fighting power of a warrior combined with the firepower and defence of a caster.

I agree, the Cleric is one of the reigning classes. There are also so many bugs/exploits that a PVP Cleric has access to that just makes him/her all the more powerful. Druids are really just a weaker version of the Cleric.

The Monk seems to log in at number 2 - although I have never felt drawn to this class at all...somehow fighting with your fists does not do it for me and, I have a hard time accepting this class into D&D. I'd prefer a good old magical sword any day

Do the specialist mages get the extra spell per spell level as they do in the other games?

Yep!

However, I do have to agree with the cleric. Played through with one, and there are extremely versatile. They can fight in close quarters wearing heavy armor (take the feat Martial Weapon Proficiency and they can use all of the weapons warriors can), and they cast some great spells. Once you get to higher levels, my tough fights would work like this:

Cast gate (oh, hello Mr. Tank-from-Hell)
While Balor engages tough enemy, cast Harm (drops them down to 1-4 hp left)
Balor takes one swing and finishes them off

I am a big proponent of the Animal domain, which upgrades your summons (for example, when you cast Summon Monster I, you instead get the creature from Summon Monster II). Even the druid, who is supposed to be in greater touch with nature, cannot match a cleric with the Animal domain.

I almost finished with a level 20 druid, and they have great spells.
Mine died on final battle.

Although I favor all the different classe's, race's, and backrounds, one of my favorite and honorable 20th level character's had the following attribute's listed below. Now keep in mind that when your in battle your equipment's condition, effectiveness, and specialties vary at all times. Quick slot your different selections accordingly. Like potions and healing gear on one line key, throwing, slinging, Spell Casting or whatever, it makes the game much easier for you. Just slot the Stone of Recall on your number 1 slot and hit it in emergency's and that will allow you to regroup at the Temple in difficult times.

Human-Golem
Human
Barbarian (16)
Fighter (2)
Druid (2)

In regular clothes. / Maxed out unarmed

Strength- 13
Dexterity- 14
Constitution- 22
Intelligence- 12
Wisdom- 8
Charisma- 8

AC- 12
HP- 336/33 683/376
Main weapon: Unarmed
Attack bonus: +20/+15/+10/+5 +35/+30/+25/+20
Flaming hotty
Attack bonus:+32/+27/+22?+17
+2d6 Fire Damage
+5 Physical Damage

Constitution Increased
Damage Reduction
Skill Increase
Saving Throw Increased
Dexterity Increased
Immunity to the following when shapechangedeath Magic, Fear, Knockdown, Negative level, Ability decrease, Mind spells, Sneak attack, and Paralysis.

My Golem Warrior Barbarian also incorperates the following and will also explain the break in classe's and why.

Weapon Proficiences- (martial, exotic, simple, and druid.)
Barbarian Fast Movement
Quick to Master
Greater Rage 5X
Toughness
Uncanny Dodge V
Weapon Focus, specialization, and improved critical in Longsword

Damage Reduction 2
Mobility
Two-weapon Fighting
Nature Sense
Animal Companion
Lightning Reflexes
Woodland Stride.

The superior catch to this character is the constitution as a Humanbeing. When Transformed into his battle state he becomes a perfect Guardian of Gates and such in the NWN realm.
