If you have the latest patch, it will run flawlwessly. If you dont, you will get the infamous "NPC X Appears busy" bug, and wont be able to get anywhere in the game.
There is one other possible problem for those upgrading to XP from 98. XP takes more memory for itself, so if you are on the boderline for system specifications, you may have trouble. But its not likely. 256Mb RAM or more will be ample. It can be done in 128MB RAM with slight performance degredation.

Installing the official patch and then the baldurdash fixpack should remove almost every problem with BG2. Including scripting errors.
The specific one you mention though is often because one of the henchmen runs down stairs, the battle isnt over till you find and kill all the enemies.

CDs and DVDs are better in terms of the amount of storage; but a zip disk is better in that it acts like a floppy - you can write more too it, and delete it, at any time you want. Only disadvantage is that you need the right drive(rs), and *possibly* the right onboard stuff. Which is why I would *realy* like a thumb drive - infinately rewritable, multiplatform, self powered, compact, plug-and-play for Win 98 + and MacOS 8+ (I think), easy to move from computer to computer, plugs into a USB port, more than enough storage for what I`d be doing... only drawback being the price of the things. |
