I have to put a plug in for my favorite auther Raymond Feist and his books. I just finished his latest work, " Talon of the Siver Hawk". It is great story written with his usally good style. I have read his entire RiftWar and Serpent War Series. I hope to get and read his Krondor books as well.

I too have read most of them & generally liked them all. I just find that the stories are getting repetitive.
Other than that they are a great read.

I'm reading the Serpent War saga right now, and the only thing that bothers me is he makes it too big of a deal to incorporate a multitude of cultures in Midkemia. Obviously the Tsuranuanni are an ode to both the Japanese and Central American (Inca, Aztec, Maya) cultures. In the following books we meet more and more different cultures (Jushandi=Mongol for instance) and that sometimes bothers me. It gives me the idea he wants people to think he's a man who knows a lot (which bugs me).
Sometimes I get bored of his overzealous attempts to describe situations, often using words we wouldn't use today [Although I can't be sure about that one, it is certainly the case in the Dutch versions of his books. And yeah, I normally despise anything else than original, but my cousin has all the books and I don't want to spend money I don't have] Overall I like the stories, though. Magician was fairly good, the follow ups Silverthorn and A Darkness at Sethanon worthy enough. Prince of the Blood and The King's Buccaneer were weird, not all that necessary IMHO. Happily enough Shadow of a Dark Queen makes up more than enough. I especially like Feist's take on multiple universes, and although he sometimes twists and turns a wee bit too much, it's interesting nonetheless.

*Spoiler*
'Return of the Exile' starts out pretty well, with Kaspar looking for a way to return home, and remains fun until the point (about half way through the book) where they re-introduce Pug. [ 03-17-2005, 07:57 AM: Message edited by: Dreamer128 ] |

Sorry Hark. I didn't really consider it to be much of a spoiler. Corrections have been made.

I prefer getting my paperbacks used. I can't afford them new.
I have right now, Three sets of his series, RiftWar, Serpentwar, and Servant Series he did with Janny Wurts. Right now I am looking for the Return to Krondor series. My favorite Character has been Jimmy the Hand and Nakor, he always has those oranges. I don't mind spoilers, in which book did Pug supose to die?
