I tried to coax a pic out of him Ziroc once or twice over the years, but he never did send me one. He didn't have a problem posting pics of his cars, and his house, but nope, not of himself.

I'm so glad you are going to make something for him, we've never had anyone pass away here at IWs, and I really consider this a big deal, especially it being Animal, a long time poster and friend to many.

Bah, am teary again, so frikken sad.

I don't have one either, he usually bypassed any requests for photos. If I come across anything I'll let you know. As Wendy said, he posted his cars but not himself, he was rather private about things like that.

The page or avatar sound wonderful!

Hey Wendy, I know how you feel. *hugs*

Lunch with my daughter was... appropriate. I think my kids are wondering why they got all the extra hugs and kisses today. Ah, well... let 'em wonder.

I like the avatar idea as well... a fitting tribute. Don't like the idea of a gravestone, though... would you want to be remembered for death or life?

Having said that, I didn't know Animal as well as others here. I bow in deference to their greater knowledge.

It's funny - Animal is no longer with us, but if you use the search function and find a thread he posted on, or read a post of his that you haven't seen before, it's like he's here, right now, with us.

This is one of the best things about forums, isn't it - the preservation of threads, the preservation of history. Animal will always be here with us - he lives with us through the posts and threads he contributed to our community. Nobody can take those away.

Ziroc - Just wanted to let you know that putting a monument in EfU to Animal is a Class Act.

I also really like the idea of a new avatar in his honor and am so glad to hear you are creating a Dedication Page for him. All of these are fitting tributes for ANY member of IW that may pass away - but seems especially appropriate since Animal is the first and was so well respected by so many.

I didn't know him nearly as well as I would have liked, but he will never be forgotten.

Oh yes, so every stupid kid can spam to "get the Animal" - sorry, is it just me who finds the idea a little crass? Oh, we need a new avatar anyway for higher ranks, why not use Animal, and everybody can post a lot of spam to reach it. What's wrong with a memorial page? It would be a far better tribute if people actually stopped posting crap as if nothing happened, if only for a mere day or so, otherwise this is just another thread among many.
But I don't think this is the right place or time for such a discussion, sorry.

Why do you assume that everyone spams to get to new ranks? Sure there are some, but the majority of us dont obsess over what our avater is, I only realised the other day that I am a 20th level warrior.
And maybe to prevent people "Spamming to get the animal" it could be a low level avatar?

Your anger is misplaced, Melusine. Ziroc already said he was going to make a Memorial/Dedication page for Animal. In addition, he is adding a permanent monument to him in EfU, which was one of Animal's favorite places to spend time.

And Hivetyrant's right, not everybody cares what their avatar is. Those that do will spam anyway - whether Ziroc creates a new avatar or not. But even the most dedicated spammer would have a hard time reaching 10,000+ posts without being smacked down by the Mods long-beforehand.

Show some respect for crying out loud, this is not the thread to argue about stupid little issues.

Then perhaps it would be more apropriate to use one of his cars (with the muppet "Animal" in the drivers seat)...

just a suggestion.
