Yeah, right. CDs were more expensive than magnetic tapes regardless of the lower production costs, because that way the music producers could get more money. The next format is always more expensive just because.
Speaking of CDs, those are still around despite prettier and more powerful storage media coming around. DVD could survive as a medium for when you just don't need more than four gigs. Casual file storage, home videos, computer programs and the like.
