Muhahahah... The Gauntlet Level will be the most deadly trap laden level in Undermountain--Deadly as in Traps and stuff, but don't worry, there will be new and deadly creatures inhabiting the levels as well.

The Gauntlet will be a total of 3 levels big, and will be inserted somewhere in between level 4 - 7. It won't be as hard as the deep levels, as it's to be near the top of Undermountain, but it will still be VERY deadly. I may have it connect to Skullport even. There may too be multiple entrances to The Gauntlet.

I'm working on it now, as well as adding the finishing touches to Skullport (well, finishing for NOW.. As ya know, no level is ever 'done'. They change over time.

The Projected Release Date is: July 3, 2004. So you'll have something to do on your holiday on the 4th. (for Americans atleast )

Expect many odd happenings in these new levels--stuff never done before in EfU. Ambushes, traps of spells, and sneaky things...

Guess you're starting to regret all those items with "Find Traps" as an ability you've put in the game then

PS Made a bug report in the thread for the purpose.

Z, I was travelling through Undermountain with another player, when we encountered an Ubermunchkin (a rather rude one at that). Apparently, although PVP settings are turned off, you can still hit the other players with the Greater-Ruin spell and kill them... almost happened to me (hmm.. wonder if this is a bug)

Also... a lot of the good work you are putting in here is being by-passed by the super-items of immunity or trap-detecting or apocalyptic items of mass destruction brought in. I believe that no matter how much work you put into the Gauntlet, it will still be plagued with people waltzing through and wasting the experience for us.

What happened to the idea of implementing the scripts to remove the "Uberness" from the PC's entering this place?

Thought: the gauntlet can be really deadly if it's got areas of anti-magic (like in HOTU) such that a lot of the "uberness" is removed... thus having characters rely on their true skills.

Sigh... what happened to the good old days when a spike trap would simply pierce your lungs and bleed you out into the street for the meatwagons?

Anti Magic may indeed be there... Maybe even when you enter, ALL your items are removed and placed at the exit in chests? That would be cool kinda.. but way hard to script.

I'll look into anti magic scripts.. Hmm!

I like that idea, Im all for it!!! Z, do the whole gauntlet under the anti-magic, but have small rooms where it may work but wont be of any use... that sounds Halaster like

Yep! Sure does! Also, there is going to be a gang war between the Xanather Guild and the Kraken Society. -- This will be on level 6 and 7, and replace those 2 levels with a deep story of the Xanather, and in a much better way.

Ehrys drag your wife to the screen and tell her to try the game she may just like it. Get her into watching or helping and maybe she will understand why you spend so much time and even start to like playing on the Undermountain.
I tried to get my wife interested for over five years and finally, I loaded Baldurs Gate & Tales of the Sword Coast on Her computer and I think I got Her hooked!
She does ask alot of questions and she is starting to sit behind me when I'm playing SoU and HotU. I think I'm going to Have to load Neverwinter Nights on her computer before to long. I told here about Baldurs Gate II and the expansions and she wants them Next and thats cool because it won't be too long and I'll have my own side kick to bring along to help me kick butts in Undermountain.

Dear Mrs. Ehrys (he!he! )

Please escuse Mr. Ehrys while he saves the world instead of him looking at porno on the internet we really need him.

Thank You
