Fighters, Barbarians, Paladins, Rangers, get 1* for every 3 levels.

Clerics, Thieves, Bards, get 1* every 4 levels.

Mages, Sorcerers, get 1* every 6 levels.

Not sure about Monks and Druids.

If not a Sorcerer casting total oblivion, then a Paladin meting out justice. Otherwise, I think I will just be a bard and torture my enemies with, "My Heart Will Go On".

Platinium Sorcerer of ALSB, Aerie Loving Sacred Band! She's MeowRrrr, and more!

Monks, I'm not sure. I would imagine that they would use the Fighter group for proficiencies. Never played one though, so I can't say for certain. Druids should be the same as Clerics.

As for where the info comes from, it's from the AD&D 2nd Edition rules. It may also be mentioned in the manual, but I don't think so somehow. I don't remember reading it, at any rate.
