ic: Talthyr realised what the figure was doing, thimnking tio himself 'we are okay now.'
He visibly relaxed, prepared for what was coming.

ooc: dammit, if I had known a 'web' spell would've worked, my char is high enough level, I thought it wouldn't have been effective enough.

A dozen buffalos reached the webbed area and rammed into it. The grounds shaken violently as the herd torn webs along with grasses from the plains. Dusts flying all about, blocking the sun, and darkens the sky. Most of the buffalos that stumbled into the web areas are held tight but more and more flushed through ontop of their entangled kins...

A length of 20 ft line of buffalos are now 10 ft behind the main group, and that line is thinner than the whole herd. Some around the edge of the webs are taking up their trapped kins' places, the gap is getting smaller and thicker as the line approaches nearer...

Watching the gap close, Legolas realises there is not much time. He bends over in his saddle and lifts the mage on his horse. Holding the wizard steady with one hand, Legolas takes his dagger in the other. Not that it would do much good; the long dagger would only enrage it. If it did die, it would be many minutes later from blood loss. But it was better than nothing.
Steering the horse with his knees, Legolas urged his steed onwards, toward the gap in the line. He noticed Shadow had already turned while Res was struggling to help Vangard into a better position.
Discomfort mixed with a bit of pride flowed through the archer's body. This would never have happened in the forest, he thought.

OOC: Should we keep dragging shadow around? I don't know what happened to him, though it was probably r/l that got the better of our mysterious ranger.
Another thing, I was a bit low on Legolas' age, as I've found out it was nearing 3000 during the War of the Ring in Middle-earth. Not too many summers passed since then, so he'll still be a little under that, still a young and relatively inexperienced elf

::Liliara urges Drak to a pace that keeps up with the others. Knowing nothing about magic, the mumblings of the mage hold no comfort for her::

OOC:: Where IS Shadow, anyway?

The hooded man steady himself on the mount and thank the rider elf quickly. He then casted a spell just in the position in front of the "gap". A wide and deep hole appeared on the ground.

The last groups of stampede stumbled into the hole. Now the space is clear, a real gap is made amoung the charging line of buffalos. The group is saved.

The buffalos charged pass the party, and ran off into distance, leaving the dusts to settle down...

When the desperate flee for life finally comes to an end, I take the time to thank the party properly. In the frenzy of the flight, I had not noticed the cowl of my cloak had been thrown back. It didn't hit me until I saw the expressions of the party I had just saved (or had they saved me). They could not know who I really was inside, because all they saw was my (almost) black elven skin.

IC: Legolas was taken aback. He had known the man had his secrets. All men do. But this was unheard of. There was only one friendly drow he had ever heard of, and this one did not fit the description.
He was not a native to the forgotten realms, but had developed a strong dislike bothering on a hatred nonetheless.
He remembered several 'quests' where he had hunted down bands of drow. He remembered telling Julia about it.

Legolas had liked him so far, though neither of them had said a word. Dutka seemed more action orientated. Come to think of it, that was not a strange attitude for a drow.

This revelation had caused Legolas to distrust Dutka, but he promised himself he would not act hostilly as long as the drow would behave. When this was over with, one of them at the least would leave the party.

Pushing the subject away for now, Legolas thanked the mage for the timely intervention, albeit through slightly gritted teeth.
"I am Legolas. Thank you for your help"

Looking over his neck, he saw his saddlebags. This reminded him of yet another problem:he had no tent.
Well, he was used to sleeping in the open. The elf supposed he could do without for now.

::Liliara was taken aback at the site of Dutka. She remembered faintly the stories her mother had told her of the dark elves, but now, it was hard to make the connection between the tales of terror and this man before her. Realizing that she must be staring in a most impolite way, the half elf rides up next to him, extending a delicate hand::

Forgive me for abandoning my manners. I am Liliara.

"Well met then Fair Lady Lilaria. I am called Kendril. I thank the gods that fate would have us cross paths this day. It is difficult to say what lay ahead for either of us had we not been in this mess together."

He makes a low bow as he speaks and when he finishes, he stands straight and turns to gaze directly at Legolas.

He connects his eyes and holds a stare for a long moment. He says not a word, but rather, attempts to offer his gratitude with a look. He knows the indiferrence Legolas must be feeling at that moment and decides that words may only add to the pressure of the moment.

He turns and regards Lilaria again.

"I thank thee again. Pray tell, where are you headed? In these dangerous parts, I sure could use some traveling companions. (As if the events moments ago wasn't enough..) There is safety in numbers. Also, it would do me some good to get off my feet for a while. I could pay thee for a ride on your mount, however, I have but a few gold coins."

::Liliara smiles down at Kendril. His polite demeanor was certainly not what she had expected after the tales she had heard of the drow.::

Kendril, It would be my pleasure to have you ride with me, and I would accept no coin for the service. Unfortunately, the decision of your joining with us is not mine to make. ::She nods towards Rez::

However, I think you have already proven your worth, and I thank you for what you did for us.
