Now, that is just stupid! Who *will* pay to use an email service! We might as well go back to letters!

Pay for email, that will be the day! You get nothing but spam at hotmail, thats why i use email addresses with my isp now (my isp lets you create 4 new email addresses, and you can actually get good names!). I never have liked MSN, this just gives me another reason never to use it. ICQ all the way for me.

I used my msn passport, which had my e-mail address so had no problems. But that was 5 months ago, I guess things have changed. But I did upgrade about a month ago and it went smoothly.

I use an email.com addy, and it works perfectly... just type the full address into the box, and choose a password. Works for me.

LadyZ, I went in and signed up for a new hotmail account, and I've figured out the problem.

They do still offer the smaller free account, they just hide it. On the initial page you find a description of the two types of MSN accounts at the bottom.

The first is the 10MG of webspace account for $19.95 . That's the one you get if you follow any of the continue links/buttons, etc.

The second is the 2MG of webspace account. In the last sentance of this one's description is a blue "click" link. This will take you through the sign in process for the free account including the "which spam mails do you want" options, of which I chose NONE, and then to your inbox!

So you don't have to pay. Just make sure you log in every month or so to the account. Not just into Messenger, but all the way into the email account. This will keep it active. I actually use Outlook Express to check my Hotmail account and that seems to have the same effect.
Pretty much everyone who wants to keep in touch with friends they made while email was free. Its a classic hook and jerk maneuver. get the public hooked and then charge the snot out of them.

Thanks Ronn! When I get motivated I'll check out hotmail's main site and see if I can't find that hidden part. Again, I seem to already have an account though, I wonder how I can make it where I can look at my e-mails in it though. I don't want to make yet another Hotmail addy, hmmm.
