ahhh but Hawking (and others) have said that you can take a short-cut (ie wormhole). So as to appear to have traveled FTL.

True . .unfortunately they also developed the opposite, a Neutron-bomb.
The bomb ignores all the spiffy explosions and just produces enormous amounts of neutrons ...
The radiation penetrates a whole lot for a pretty nice distance I believe.
Disables people in a few minutes, kills them in about 10 ...
( guessing here, cant remember the numbers, think they were around 10 minutes)

According to Hawking there are only two possibilities:
1. You cant travel fasten than light
2. There are indeed parallel dimensions .. travelling through time makes you travel through dimensions. You'll not only go back in time, but go to another dimension too.
3. They all went to the 60s, where no one would notice them - Stephen Hawking, Universe in a Nutshell.

Crap, i misspelled -now ( supposed to be know )- in my EDIT too
And i probably misspelled misspelled too .. .AAARGHHHH

Anywayz, wormholes bring a few problems with them ...
The major one being that there's a rather big black hole in the middle.
You cant pass through a black hole . .takes infinite time, and you get teared up.
Two theoreticall ways to use 'em anywayz:

1. Wormholes are everywhere basically, what you need is a wormhole without mass .. space is like an ocean with little whirlpools of time, caused by the planets gravity. Enlarging one of these twirls will provide you with a wormhole without mass.

2.You can create your own wormhole, using 10˛ Tesla ( with ˛ actually being 18 .. but I cant find a little 18 )

Anywayz, not sure about that number ( surprise ), but the maximum man has produced so far is something like 2 Tesla ( I think .. point is that we have a long way to go )

And me being all mixed up as of late .. it might be that that amount of Tesla is required to enlarge the hole I mentioned in at -1.- ...
In that case i totally forgot how to create a wormhole yourself

mmmm I thought one method of creating a wormhole was to use negitive mass (or as it energy?) either way it is something that is 'currently' theoretically impossible.

Thanks for all the answers, even if I didn't understand them all!

I like the one that is based on choices, there is a good episode of Stargate on that one.....

Going but has anyone seen that Stargate episode where they open the gate and it has the wormhole on the other side? I love that one, the way everything flies towards the gate and then time is slower closer to it?

There's this great imagenitive ( have to stop using long english words )
distance measured from a black hole's centre called ... something .. i forget things.

Anywayz, that critical radius to the black hole's centre has a funny characteritistic ( ahhh, whatever man .. english is so annoying )

Time passes slower if you come closer to a black hole relative to another observer.
If you fall towards a black hole, there's going to be a distance,.. where, from the outsiders point of view, your progress towards the black hole takes infinitely long ---> you're suspended in space, motionless.

From your point of view it took a few micro seconds to reach the centre and you were in terrible pain .. but from the outsiders point of view, your still hanging there.

Might be a comfort to know, that even if you do die by getting sucked into a black hole .. your family/friends/ interested will be able to see you forever

EDIT:
Going to bed now .. im still young, not allowed to stay up that late

Unfortunately, no. Once you reach the event horizon (point where you could not escape even if you travelled the speed of light), you become practically invisible.
