Jaiheras strength is her utility. She can make an awesome tank. I had her at -11 AC with the clerics staff, and she kicked ass. She makes a better tank than anomen in my opinion. But she also can sit back and cast spells without the same weaknesses that other magic-users suffer, she can defend herself from sneak attacks.

jaheria makes a brilliant tank if you give her something like gridle of hill giant strength, decent armour, a good sheild and a good scimitar.

Jahiera is my main tank in my current party, and she ROCKS in that role!

Ryll (Blade) with Lilarcor, bracers of AC 3
Jahiera with Full Plate Mail, +2 Ring of Protection, cloak of sewers, girdle of hill giant strength
Aerie with Robe of Vecna, sling of everard +5
Yoshimo with Short Sword of Mask, Tungian Bow

Anyway, with my Blade's pick pocket skills I was able to equip the party very well surprisingly early in the game. Jahiera has had an AC of either -5 (with cleric staff +3) or -8 (with shield +2 and club).

Not the best THAC0 in the world, but her Fire Elementals more than make up for it

I love Fire Elementals .....

Is Bodhi immune to +2 weapons? I was planning to have jaheira (and summons) with jaheira with the amulet of power confront Bodhi, with somebody casting restoration spells behind.

Hail Willard!

Jahiera is good with clubs, and you ought to have a club +2/+3 vs. undead from an earlier adventure. If not, you can buy a +3 club at Trademeet.

I think that Jahiera is an excellent secondary tank. I think that her limited weapon options and her low HP makes it difficult to recommend her as a primary tank. But with the proper equipment, she makes an excellent second or third tank.

I happen to like secondary tanks that have the flexibility of being fighter/priests (either by dualling or multiclass). The extra abilities that they bring to a party can make the difference in a battle. True, they may not be as potent as another pure class fighter. But pure class fighters are exactly what you see ... pure fighters. They don't bring anything else to the party beyond a strong sword arm.

Also, I am particularly strong in believing that Jahiera should carry use only one-handed weapons so that she can carry a shield. Since she does have a relatively low HP, she needs the best AC possible. And when she can cast Ironskin, all the better.

Never really understood the damage of that impaler spear. Why 1D6+3 + 10 piercing?? Spears deal piercing damage anyway, so why not represent this as 1D6 + 13?

They wanted to seperate the damage that was granted by it's special ability of impaling(+10), from the strictly magical bonuses (the +3), anoth example of this sort of thing is the Holy Avenger (Carsomyr in bg2), it deals out an extra +5 dam to Chaotic Evil creatures.

The +3 is also the to hit modifier. The +10 is not related to getting the hit, but is purely damage. How amazing would a +13 weapon be? A hit every time.

I never said it should be a +13 weapon. I said since it deals 1D6+3 +10 damage that is all piercing then why not represent this as 1D6+13 as it's exactly same. I never mentioned the THAC0, or anything about the spear striking as a +13 weapon, I was talking about damage only.

To hit and damage are not related in any way. If a weapon deals +10 damage, it doesn't mean it strikes as a +10 weapon or has a +10 modifier to the THACO bonus.

Taking the staff of the RAM +4 as an example:
THAC0 +4
DAMAGE 1D6+10

If this was represented in the same way as the spear, it would show:

THACO +4
DAMAGE 1D6+4, +6 crushing damage

SO I was just wondering why the spear doesn't say

THAC0 +3
DAMAGE 1D6+13

In a similar fashion to the staff of the RAM.
