are thri-kreen allowed? if so I will be a Thri-kreen Fighter, if not then I've got another concept entirely in mind. I am prepared to be handled as as monster (most intelligent creatures seeing a 7' bug would tend to freak out)

A thri-kreen sounds fun to me Morgy, but my elf playing co-DM has a problem with the elf eating thing. Post your char so i can get some background info on him. I see the fun, not the problem

I would like to take a small part in your game, if you have one that is of little importance and would help you in the diversity of many different personalities. If you have a particular role that you would like to give me, even if it were a temp. job...I would like to see what I can do.

I am very interested in joining... Would you mind entering a character who was either a Pegasari Sorcerer, Elven Dragoon, or a Vacuum Genasai Void mage ?

I look forward to slaying the evil Thri-keen. No, I do not have a "problem", I'm just concerned considering that three of the pcs already are elven/have elven blood within them. That makes them *food*. But whatever, go ahead.

And uh, DK, I didn't think any of those were legit classes... - well, the sorcerer and the void mage is - but I've not heard of the Pegasari race... unless... what exactly IS a Pegasari? A pegasi? If so, its out of the question. Unless our lovely DM over-rules me. I would have said basic humanoid races only.

Also I would have thought that the game was set on a prime, so, how you managed to get a genasi there... would take some explaining. But, if you have a nice IC reason, post it, and we'll see .

Actually unless a given thri-kreen has already eaten elves there wouldn't be a desire to do so, although elves would smell... tasty. Don't worry, I have no plans on devouring "intelligent" creatures, nor am I a scavenger, but a noble hunter. I'll have a decent write-up before long, and of course I'm sure elven characters would have heard terrible stories about the "savage insect men that devour elves" which will just make things more fun.

got your pm larry

And you would be most welcome to join...let me think here. Cal has a ranger/sorc, so a pure mage would be good. It depends on where you want to start...a mage like that could start at the castle and be one of the advisors, or, you could meet with the party in the wilderness when they leave...a paladin would be good too...its just that both my chars are fighters, so some ranged magic would be good

DK...whats a pegarusi....?

Name: Alae Esgaroth Dragonflame
Race: Half-dragon
Gender: Female
Class: Fighter
Age: 249

Stats:
STR 18
DEX 16
CON 16
INT 14
WIS 11
CHA 11

Special Abilities: Both Alae and her twin Alaerth have the ability to turn into small silver dragons (as in they could probably carry 2 people each). However, because they are young and new to this form, there are several drawbacks: they cannot fly or use their breath weapons, and fighting is extremely clumsy. They are only able to take this form once a week, and even then, they rarely use it except in emergencies. After morphing back to humanoid form, they are fatigued and must rest immediately, or they simply pass out on the spot. The bonuses to taking dragon form are +4 to AC, +2 to STR, and plus +3 to CON

Weapons and Armour:
Alae wields her mother’s +4 scimitar Isan (small ice enchantment), and wears Verloren’s +2 breastplate. A ring on each finger adds +1 to DEX (+2 total)

Appearance: Alae is a breathtaking figure of a woman, looking almost identical to her mother except for the sharp silver eyes and shining silver hair that falls to the middle of her back (traits of her father). Alae prefers to garb herself in greens and silvers, usually wearing forest green breeches, a forest green cloak with silver embroidery, and a silver tunic with green embroidery. A jacket like the tunic is worn for formal occasions. Like Verloren, her eyes turn a vivid red when angered, annoyed, or threatened. She is taller than Verloren was, standing at 5’5.

Bio: Even though Alae is co-ruler of Defari, she prefers to leave the drab life of ruling to her brother. The more adventurous and light hearted of the two, Alae can usually be found wandering the vast forest of the castle grounds, that were recently extended back to circle around a great mountain, on top of which Avalon (her father) dwells. She rarely takes the 4-day long hike up to her father’s caves, but she is comfortable knowing that he is up there watching over her. She is ever next to her brother’s side in battle, and they are a deadly force to be reckoned with, both having been trained by the man who made Verloren a blademaster.

~~~~~
Name: Alaerth Esgaroth Dragonflame the I
Race: Half-dragon
Gender: Male
Class: Fighter/Berserker
Age: 249
Stats:
STR 17
DEX 16
CON 16
INT 12
WIS 14
CHA 14
Special Abilities: See Alae
Weapons and Armour:
Alaerth wields the twin to Isan- Isak +4 (small lightning damage). He also carries a large shield +2, and wears elven chain +2. He wears two rings: One adds +1 to CHA, the other +1 to DEX.
Appearance: Alaerth, while twin to Alae, and handsome as she is beautiful, is not identical to her. His build follows closer to that of his father’s humanoid form: Tall and lean, muscles standout clearly on his frame, unusual for one of elven blood. His face however, is close in appearance to Alae’s, with the same sharp eyes and shining hair, though he wears his hair in short, easy-to-manage spikes, like Avalon. He tends to wear the same clothes as Alae, but cut more masculine. As with Alae, his eyes turn red under the same conditions…but more often. He is taller than his sister, and stands at 5’10
Bio: Since Alae is usually “busy”, Alaerth is left with the burden of ruling Defari. While boring, this task has made Alaerth the wiser of the two siblings. It has also made him serious, and less prone to laughter than his cheery sister, though he still has a good sense of humor when alone with friends, and then is as easy to laugh as Alae.
Although trained as a fighter, Alaerth is overcome with bloodlust in battle. While this makes him an even deadlier foe than normal, it also leaves him prone to attack, which is why Alae is always close behind him.
Special Item: Alaerth carries a magic mirror, which upon activating, contacts/summons his Aunt Alliene from the Underdark. Alliene gave it to them as a gift, but warned them never to summon her from her House unless absolutely necessary, or they would be in big trouble. It is also able to simply summon her face, so that Alaerth can speak with her and not draw her out.
Calaethis's Character
This is my character, obviously, and he's the result of two of my former characters... who will be NPCs. Should be somewhat interesting. You'll notice I've left out sorcerer information, purely because Sorc's arnt 2ed - but our glorious DM said I could play one, so, that makes up for it's lack. Since its not going to be very rule intensive... I figured, "Why not?".
Arlyth'Kaeion
Name: Arlyth’Kaeion, "Zaknirahc’d*"
Gender: Male
Race: Elf**
Class: Ranger/Sorcerer
Alignment: Neutral Good
*Arlyth's Drow name/alias: it vaugly translates to: "Shadow/dusk blood (of)/heir dragons"
**Arlyth is not fully elf; nor is he any one subrace; his grandfather was a high-elf, his grandmother a wood-elf; and that is only on Calaethis's side. Calaethis himself is no longer fully elf, and has draconic blood streching back to the dawn of his family; though it has only recently awoken in him; and some of this has passed onto Arlyth.
Info:
Eye Colour: Emerald Green
Hair Colour: Raven Black
Age: 87 years old
Height: 5'7" tall
Abilities
Stats
Str: 17
Dex: 19
Con: 16
Int: 16
Wis: 16
Cha: 16
Racial Abilities:
Infravision (10): 60' infravision range.
Less sleep (5): The elf requires only four hours worth of sleep to be rested. This is especially valuable to spellcasters.
Stealth (10): When the elf is alone and is not wearing metal armor, he gains a bonus to surprise opponents. The opponent suffers a –4 penalty, a –2 if the elf has to open a door.
Spell Abilities (15): Once a day the elf can cast faerie fire, dancing lights, and darkness as a priest or wizard of the same level. When the character reaches 4th level, he can add, levitate, detect magic, and know alignment
Sword bonus (5): +1 on attack rolls using a short sword or a long sword
Invoke wild surge (5): The PC can invoke her chaotic magical nature to cause a wizard within 20' in the process of casting a spell to experience a wild surge. This can be done once per day for every five levels
Class abilities: Ranger
Climbing (10): A ranger can climb trees, cliffs, and other natural formations. The ranger’s climbing score is equal to his Dexterity/Balance score plus the hide in shadows percentage (see Table 22) for a character of his level. Note that a ranger does not have to have the hide in shadows ability to have a climbing ability, the two skill simply use similar numbers.
Detect noise (10): As the thief ability. Use the ranger’s Intuition score plus his move silently percentage to determine his chance for success.
Hide in Shadows (5): A ranger can hide in shadows, as the thief ability, in natural surroundings if he is wearing studded leather or lighter armor. See Table 22 for the ranger’s chance of success. The ranger also can attempt to use this ability in other settings, but his chance of success is halved
Move silently (5): A ranger can move silently, as the thief ability, in natural surroundings if he is wearing studded leather or lighter armor. See Table 22 for the ranger’s chance of success. The ranger also can attempt to use this ability in other settings, but his chance of success is halved.
Priest spells (10): Starting at level eight, a ranger can learn priest spells of the plant and animal spheres. He follows the normal rules for priest spells, though he does not gain extra spells for a high Wisdom/Intuition score. A ranger cannot use clerical scrolls. The ranger’s spell progression is presented on Table 21.
Sneak attack (10): If a ranger successfully moves silently and hides in shadows, he can sneak attack in natural settings, as the thief’s backstab ability. The ranger strikes and does backstab damage as a thief of the same level.
Special enemy (10): Banshee. Rangers focus their efforts on one exceedingly bothersome type of creature. A ranger must choose his special enemy before reaching 2nd level. Sample enemies include orcs, trolls, bugbears, and lizard men. The DM must approve the player’s choice. From that point on, the ranger gains a +4 bonus to his attack rolls when encountering that type of creature. The ranger can attempt to hide the enmity he feels for these creatures, but he suffers a –4 penalty on reaction rolls vs. that type of creature. Further, the ranger should seek out such creatures over other foes in combat, unless there is some greater danger.
Weapon Proficiencies
I'm going to ignore these for now; just assume that Arlyth is trained in his chosen weapons and has basic knowledge of most.
Character abilities:
Shadow form: Polymorphs into a humanoid-dragon; Gains +2 str, -2 cha. Grows shadowy wings; claws and a tail. Turns translucent. 100% chance of success when hiding in shadows/darkness. 10% chance of going insane for d6 hours each time it’s used. 1% chance insanity is permanent. (Heal & greater restoration, lesser wish, or wish, may remove the effects of permanent insanity.)
Plant Sphere
Healing Sphere
Boots of Winter & Stealth: The wearer’s feet don’t freeze when travelling through snow and the like, nor do they leave any footprints in natural surroundings, e.g. woodlands. User takes no natural cold damage in winter, 15% bonus to hide in the shadows & move silently.
Background
Appearance:
As with his father, Arlyth’Kaeion features are pale and slender, his ears delicately tipped, leaving no doubt that he is an elf. Emerald green eyes stare out, and like Calaethis; the elf has the presence of long, dead draconic blood within him, though it is less in attendance then in his father. However, his eyes have a tendency to ‘swirl’, changing colour depending on his mood; but they are restricted to various shades of greys and greens. Very occasionally, twilight colours, and blues have been seen. Unlike his father, Arlyth’Kaeion’s hair is kept short, though it’s colour is the same: raven & jet black. To say that he is handsome is an understatement, but his arrogance often puts others off; and he scorns at “lesser” races especially. Humans, and gnomes in particular he dislikes, though he refuses to explain why. Having said this, he respects other elves, and his elders a great deal.
A noble, Arlyth’Kaeion prefers fine cut clothing, and favours blacks and dark greys. Currently, his favourite clothes are a deep storm-cloud grey undertunic, though it is more like a t-shirt, and on top of that, a black tunic, with long sleeves, but left open at the neck, allowing the grey shirt to show through. Black breeches cling to his legs, and various sheaths contain weapons; one contains a katana, and the other a wakazashi. Leather gauntlets protect his hands, and within, he carries a hidden knife. Over the top of all of this, he often wears a studded leather jerkin, black, of course. Though he possesses a suit of Mithril Chain, he rarely wears it; and when he does, he wears it underneath his clothing. As with his chain, his Mage robes are worn rarely, and usually only formally. Intricately designed, they are quite beautiful, made from the finest elven silk. Dragons decorate the robes; the same dragon’s that once appeared upon his father’s sword; Tagnik’zurjess…
Weapons-wise; Arlyth’Kaeion wields a katana, and a wakazashi; both enchanted, though without additional elemental damage. Engraved deep into the blade is a circle; with twelve blades and a star emerging from the centre; on top of that is etched a dragon. A black stallion, going by the name of Atraeal is Arlyth’Kaeion’s chosen mount; loyal and faithful, he may not be entirely horse; and is liable to have other bloodlines in his linage. A gift from his father’s deity, Atraeal was given to Arlyth’Kaeion as a gesture of love and goodwill. In return, Arlyth’Kaeion has acknowledged his father’s deity, and taken her cause for his own. Although he loves and respects Her; the young elf wishes to tread his own path, and will do so; although, he often bows to his mistress’s will.
Able to polymorph into a form akin to his fathers; Arlyth’Kaeion is able to form wings of shadow; a humanoid draconic form. Unlike Calaethis, his skin does not turn golden, nor have miniature scales; nor does he possess many of the abilities his father once had. Instead, Arlyth’Kaeion is able to become a living shadow with demonic wings and a dragon’s tail. Still appearing elven in this form, his eyes turn crimson, his teeth fangs, and he grows long sheath-able claws. His ears remain elven, however, as does his body structure. No-one knows about this ability, save for him; and he uses it rarely, for quite frankly, it scares him. Unable to focus his form to that of a golden dragon; he fears losing control. Even in this form, he is essentially good, but he becomes somewhat darker then usual. Having only tried this form a few times, he is still unsure to the extent of his powers; but he lacks many of the abilities a dragon has. In fact, the only real attributes this form gives is the ability to fly, and invisibility at night, and within darkness. +2 str, -2 cha. Can polymorph 1/day.
Description:
Son of Calaethis, Arlyth’Kaeion claims relationship through his blood to Alliene; Calaethis’s one-time “cousin”. Cousin was a loose term used, as the relationship was far more complex then that; likewise, Alliene was sister to Verloren; and Verloren extended the same relationship to Calaethis, thus adopting and acknowledging him as kin.
Calaethis was also firstborn and heir of his own House; thus entitling Arlyth’Kaeion to the designation of “Lord”. His linage is somewhat obscure, especially on his father’s side; his mother’s is more ordinary however. Tyratria Ilanisala, his mother was a slave that his father rescued from the underdark in his youth; and freed. Tyratria and her sister, Sylquisitae, were indebted to Calaethis, despite the fact he freed them. Allowing them to pick professions, Tyratria trained as a ranger, instructed and educated by Calaethis. Sylquisitae became a cleric of Calaethis’s deity; under the tuition and guidance of Verloren. Eventually, after many months, Calaethis, undergoing changes in his metabolism, and becoming more dragon the elf, departed; Tyratria going with him. Setting off on their own, they retreated to a secluded mountain, leaving Sylquisitae behind with Verloren…
Finally, Calaethis’s metabolism settled down, giving him control over his emotions and form. By this time, the two elves were deeply in love with one another, and, ultimately Arlyth’Kaeion was the product of their union. Unbeknown to his parents, Arlyth’Kaeion also possessed some of his fathers powers; though to a lesser degree; but his blood contained traces of magic; thus giving him arcane sorceries to command. Trained by both his parents in the use of stealth, Arlyth’Kaeion is a ranger after a sort. Though, he appears somewhat darker then both of his parents; still, his mother’s influence has done much, and his base morality is good.
Deciding it was time for him to find his own path, Arlyth’Kaeion left with his parents blessing, seeking out his parent’s sister, Sylquis, whom neither of his parents had seen nor heard from in years. Furthermore, Arlyth’Kaeion decided to seek out Ariaera Lafilsum, his father’s one time tutor, mentor and advisor; a cleric of his parent’s deity. The same deity instructed Arlyth’Kaeion to locate his father’s old sword; Tagnik’zurjess, whom was in keeping with Her cleric, Ariaera. Calaethis had given her his sword for safekeeping, for reasons unbeknown to all, save him, Ariaera and his deity. Arlyth’Kaeion was also to seek out Alliene, had he the chance. Gifted the name, “Zaknirahc’d”, that was what he was to be known as within the Underdark. Though Alliene, had never seen the child, she would immediately recognise his features; and his name would confirm his lineage; for it would hold special meaning for her, and her kin…
Tagnik'zurjess
For those of you who don’t know; Tagnik was Calaethis’s old sword; a psionic, intelligent and self aware blade; though it’s powers have greatly diminished. These were it’s original stats; though it grew more powerful for a time.
Description of Tagnik'zurjess (+3 vs. evil; can cast Sunray three times a day)
Tagnik'zurjess is a longsword; the blade is plain and silver; two dragons decorate its hilt and crossguard - one on each side. On the outer edge, a dragon namely, Sssiks'barra (sunshadow), spreads its wings to the crossguard, flames shooting from its mouth and onto and around a gem. Sssiks'barra changes colour depending on it's masters mood, its scales can range from a crystal white, to a deep night black, and any other colour in-between. The other dragon, Sssiks vress'lve (sunclaw), is an oriental dragon, golden in colour, and tiny scales and two-minute rubies that served as eyes. The sun icon made the dragon's scales shine and reflect, making it appear like a detailed painting; the metal work was equisetic, and extremely fine in detail. The actual blade is several feet in length, half a foot longer then the usual length of a longblade. It's perfectly balanced, but is semi-sentient: any evildoers that try to bind it or wield it, it will reject, and even lash out if provoked. It has an underlying understanding of good and evil, and since it was forged to fight evil, it will not tolerate it.
