Yeah I do think its a shame for anyone to die young with a prospective future ahead of her, but personally I believe fame is a fickle thing. Some of you guys mention that she might have been very, very, famous in a few years but is fame any matter when it comes to a human life? Fame gratifies oneself, Sacrifice gratifies others.
And Rikard, I mean this non-offensively, but I really hope that kids are'nt having pop stars as their role models these days. What have they ever done for society? Some of them have been great examples of human beings, but trashy singers and one-hit wonders shouldnt be what kids today hope to grow up into.
My condolences go out to the families of people who died in that crash who didnt get half a line in most newspapers. To newspapers, those poor souls are but numbers counted as casualties, and the loss of the individual families means nothing to them.
Oh and Moni..Selena was murdered was'nt she? Just wondering, I liked her music.

Richie Valens
Buddy Holly
The Big Bopper
Ricky Nelson
Ronnie Van Zandt (Lynyrd Skynyrd)

just to name a few...and I know there's more, I just can't think of them right now.

Voices that are stilled, silenced forevermore. Songs left unsung, melodies that may have been, that can never be. A true tragedy.

Hell, might as well tell every musician to stay of drugs. It aint gonna happen.

It's ALWAYS a tragedy when someone dies. Young or old it doesn't matter. Famous or not. I pray for the family and friends of everyone on the plane as I am sure each and every one of them had someone who cared.

This is very true. Certainly in Britain there is a rise every spring in 'plane crashes - as people take to the skies in light aircraft - many of them taking lessons, inexperienced, in aircraft that maybe have not been used over the winter months, or failure to take account of changing weather conditions etc. It's barely given much mention, but it seems as though there's another tragedy every week for a month or so, with 2 or 3 people dying here or there, just a quick news-item at the end of the news. Not celebrities, but people's dad, mum, sister, friend, lover.

I hadn't really paid it much attention before, this must happen to only a tiny tiny fraction of those who fly in light aircraft, but shows that there are dangers with a small 'plane.

Epona! What are you doing up! Have you just woken up or are you still awake? Isn't it 6am on a Saturday morning or something?

Some pop models were never meant to be role-models
but Aaliyah was a good example how hard work and being nice can bring you far in the world
She was a real insperation for a lot of young girl and she was a good one

I agree. I find it horrible how human beings (I mean this GENERALLY, not against ANY ONE of you who posted on this topic) can hear about the deaths of human beings and act as if it didn't matter. Moreover, the more people die, the less important each person seems to become. As Stalin (I think) once said: "When you kill one, it is a tragedy. When you kill a million, it is a statistic." An incredibly callous statement, but true. Too true.

Only just saw this! Yeah, it was about 6.30am when I posted that. I had just got out of bed, still stifling a yawn. Once I wake up, there is little chance of getting back to sleep, so thought I would come to Ironworks!
