Kangaxx is easy when you know how. All you have to do is use a Protection from Magic scroll on a character and he cant touch you. The only thing is that you need a +4 weapon to kill him.

It's worth killing him though because you get the ring of Gaxx which is nice. It's probably the best ring in the game and gives regeneration and poison immunity among other things.

I killed Kangaxx a couple of times but I haven't defeated the Twisted Rune yet (maybe I haven't tried it enough, once or twice with a lvl 12 party)
HAH! Twisted rune, hard! Lol! Sorry, but to me, it's pretty easy. Kangaxx I have to wait until chapter 5, then kill, and even then it's a 1/10 chance.

Kangaxx is about as dangerous as a two year old, once you protect yourself from his endless imprisonments. Of course you have to get through his guardians first, which can be a pain cos you dont want to waste precious Protection Scrolls on them, but there far from impossible. I usuialy do him in in chapter 2 or 3. Never been to spellhold without at least one ring of Gaxx on my mage.
(you can pickpocket at the right moment for a second, but this is cheating)

Twisted Rune on the other hand, multiple high-end magic users, no way you can get through that without some deaths. But then I havent really studied up on high-level magic strategy.

And this is where I act like an a**hole, say both are ridiculously easy and can be completed in Chapter 2 on Insane Difficulty.

But seriously folks... try to see it from the view of a first-timer. Of course Kangaxx is easy if you know the proper tactics, but you will not when you meet him for the first time. He will catch you unaware with his rapid barrage of Imprisonments. Before you can even say, "What the Hell?!", he has imprisoned your entire party while you stare incomprehensibly at your monitor screen, wondering what kind of crackpot placed this guy in the game. A guy that happens to be a floating skull. Your party has defeated numerous Dragons, Liches and other manner of grandious monsters, and you got your butt kicked by a decaying skull. A skull that you happened to bring back to life.

That is Kangaxx.

The Twisted Rune is another matter. If the programmers had actually had time to properly code the fight, it would have been one of the toughest fight in the game. As it is, the Mage summons a Pit Fiend that proceeds to gnaw on her head. The Thief fights with his fists... The only remotely scary members are the Vampire which dies in a single hit from Sunray( from Daystar), the Beholder( Shield of Balduran anyone?), and the Lich( Sunray again). Even if you do not have the luxury of these items, an obsession with summons will overwhelm the people in the room.

If you want to fight the Twisted Rune in their proper full glory, get the Improved Twisted Rune mod from the Sola Mod. It is seperate mod within the installation package, so you can choose not to have the main Sola Mod, and just get the Improved Twisted Rune.
