1. Diablo 2: The Lord of Destruction.
2. Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne (pay attention to the "Monalisa's smile" at the end).
3. Icewind Dale (the narrator's voice was very good).

I never thought of any Baldur's Gate Intro as that good... They do not make justice to the awesome game that comes after.

Was the narrator for IWD Kevin Michael Richardson? This guy has an amazing voice, probably best known on these boards as that of Sarevok.

Took long enough to get to Fallout ... I like the IWD "turn the page" narration, as well ... I'll add Grim Fandango to the mix.

Five? Ugh. No order, and there's 6.

I like the edgy disjointedness of the BG2 openings.

The Icewind Dale series really came across as a story with their opening monologues. Plus I've always had a thing for Aerie's voice.

WCIII: RoC captured the state of relations perfectly. The humans and orcs are fighting their little wars, constantly, then the Burning Legion shows up, and they stop fighting each other long enough to get killed.

Planescape's opening is smoothly connected to the game. It just happens, and you're there. It's a very nice touch.

Starcraft's is just funny.

Fallout's is very straightforward, it tells you what's happened, and it's well done. Fallout 2's is a story all to itself, that also tells you what you're after.

*waves* *gets shot*

I agree with most of the one's listed here, but no one's said anything about Temple of Elemental Evil, that opening battle was awesome, I thought.
