So: I've headed north from the Duergar Camp in the Underdark.
Now: I keep getting spanked by the drow priestesses next to the machine with the trapped soul Can I get the trapped soul to help me? Any general tips re fighting these mares would be appreciated. I'm hasted, protected, blessed etc. I've cast a couple of fireballs and other area effect spells, I've summoned creatures/undead, and Imoen keeps getting toasted by a summoned Nishruu HELP? |

hey welcome to iw jatelka
drows have high magic resistant so dont bother castin offensive spells on them just kill them with the weaps u have the trapped soul.....r u talkin about the machine with the trap souls or the mage that is trapped not awhile ago? maybe spoiler + + + + + + + + + + + if ur talkin about the mage.... free him first with a freedom scroll...once u freed him u can do a little quest for him...u get reward after u finish his little quest....if u dont like the reward u can push him to givin u more stuff....and if ur still not satisfied u can ask him for more stuff but he will get mad and attack u.....if u kill him u get some pretty cool stuff if ur talkin about the machine with those faces on them....well they arent really a big problem.....just use that tactic u mention aboved and u will beat them all.....but dont kill the dwarf u can get a reward from his father if u let him live but its up to u |

As Dark Soul said, Drows are very resistant to magic, so don't bother using spell.
I'd send only your hastened warriors to deal with them, just like Soul said. Not much of a tactic, but they really aren't tough once you've fought them a few times and learned a bit about them. ![]() |

I remember I had troubel with the drow myself. After
minor spoiler - - - - - - - the drow priestes got killed by the demon and I had to flee, the whole city turned against me. Well no problem. I ran and ran and finally made it out of Ust Natha. Then I suddenly remembered that I forgot to loot the priestess and the drow female that gives you quests, corpse and I had to run back into the temple and loot the corpses, then run back and exit. At the exit the whole drow city had gathered and I had to fight quite big battle with wounded characters while waitng on Imoen which was encumebered or slowed by the new items she picked up(all my other chars inventory were full so I had to do it that way. So I had at least 10-15 drow and spiders and mages against me. Magic wasnt very effective so I cast all my summoning spells, which indeed helped for a while, my fighters gulped many potions while slaughtering drow and Aerie dueled the drow mages... At last Imoen came forth to the exit, I was nearly dead and more drow were approching when I exited Usth Natha. Oohh saved I guess, well they follewed me out of Usth Natha and another bloody battle was begun. Of course my elven archer had run out of arrows and all my summoning spells were depleted. I retreaded and left them to play with Jaheiras Pit fiend... Drow isnt particular hard to slay, all u need is good weapons and and some protective spells. Thou theyre a pain in the ass if you face the whole drow city at once. [Edit:drows=drow] [ 12-28-2002, 09:39 PM: Message edited by: Brennihelvete ]

One drow.
Two drow. NOT two drows. Same goes for Illithid, IIRC. No plural.

Personal favorite way of dealing with the Drow: Sunfire.
This much overlooked spell holds a secret - when it is cast a member of the party, it bypasses Magic Resistance! Make those Drow suffer. For even more fun, store x3 Sunfires in a Spell Trigger. ![]() Magic is soooo much more fun than melee... |

Disagree, bashing your enemies to death is far more satisifying than releasing some Doomsday-like spell and obliterating everything on-screen
(No I'm serious!) On topic, what is the deal with Incendiary cloud? It says nothing about bypassing MR and I do see it being stopped by MR sometimes. But it always drops Skeleton warriors like flies, even with their 90% MR.

The sheer electrifying sensation of power one feels when the third round of Time Stop ends and the abyss is called upon and unleahed upon the hapless victim can never be matched by the goons of vanguard.
![]() Are you sure about Incendiary Cloud? I never noticed that, but then again, i always use Abi Dalzim's Horrid Wilting instead... Can someone verify this? |

Quite sure, notice it all the time when fighting Liches. You know the Undead cave just before the Beholder lair in the Unseeing Eye quest? There are several Skeleton Warriors and Greater Mummies there, as well as a Lich. Sometimes his Chain Contingency will release 2x Abi Dalzims, and sometimes it will release an Incendiary Cloud. When the latter happens, just about everything around the Lich (and sometimes the Lich himself!) burns up in mere seconds, including all the Skeleton warriors.
