I have Shadowkeeper, but I'm just not that good at using it. Please help me, walk me through this process step by step.
I think I will reasonably stay within the spirit of this character, Jan, with this change, and I think it'll be a lot of fun. Just to clarify, I'm not looking for a Thief/Wild Mage, just a single classed Wild Mage. TIA

Isn't Jan a gnome? Aren't they hard-coded to only be illusionists? If that is the case, wild mages can only be full mages, not specialized.

You can break most of the race/class restrictions using SK. Try opening up your Save game, then scrolling to Jan's picture. Now go to the Characteristics tab & change his Class from "Mage Thief" to "Mage". Then change his Kit from "Illusionist" to "Wild Mage". That should take care of it.
He may not have the Wild Mage specific spells initially, but I think he'll get them automatically next time he levels up (which, if you didn't change his XP, will probably be as soon as the game loads). - Imrahil |
