I've done it both ways.
Try fighting it, if you absolutely can't win, reload and use the scrolls instead. Fighting gives you better xp, in some ways using the scrolls is the more "righteous" act since it keeps Demogorgon imprisoned rather than freeing him. |

In terms of both story and xp rewards, I'd have to say fight, and then get pissed of at Odren and kill him and all the other knights. That'll teach them to screw with a Bhaalspawn.

The most exp.
Read the scroll - get trapped with Demogorgon Make Demogorgon appear - and kill it go to the top of the tower and forgive the Knights it gives 80.000+100.000+50.000 xp pr person (IIRC)
