People of the Sword Coast! This thread has been set up to allow you to participate in the G.P.E., or Great Political Experiment.

For details of this and other pressing Sword Coast matters please read this thread and go to the bottom (of page 9).

If you have any questions, feel free to email me, PM me or respond on this thread itself.

Let the will of the people and the Senate be done.

Thanks,
Maj

Sorry about that, just my attempt at humour. The idea was to draught a "Constitution" for the board and the Senate. That way, we could vote on an issue, such as Kobold Integration, and have a set of guidlines in place that would allow us all to voice our concerns, and shout yay or nay.

As I'm not an American (neither am I a politics student) I know precious little about the American Constitution - which would form the basis for our own political system. Although I'm having a look through it, the situation would be easier if I had help. Particularly if they were politics students. Hence, this call to arms.

I thought that it would be fun, and encourage some debate about those really pressing issues which you just have to get off of your chest. You're quiet right Jan in that it should be in the general section, but I hope to conduct the recruitment campaign this way (in this thread), and the rest via e-mail. That is, unless people want me to put this out to the big, wide, wide world. I thought that I'd keep it "local" in the beginning at least.

So there you are. Would you like to help produce the Senate's official mechanism for change and progress in the Sword Coast? Then reply to this thread, and let's start today! (Or when we get enough help.)

P.S. After that, we'll have to sort out who's in the Senate or not!

I've no problem with it Lord Brass. Didn't even read thread/link. Just saw "Great Political Experiment" (+ BG1 = no no).

Don't say that! Everyone involved on the "Kobold Thread" is a political animal. Of some species or other.

I thought that if we actually had a bit of a bash at producing our own structure, it could be fun. I know that it isn't everyone's cup of tea/coffee, but it would produce some debate on our favourite piece of real estate. After all, you only have to search for any topic you could imagine about Baldur's Gate, and you'll find it already answered somewhere on this board. (Unless people are too lazy.)

Anyway, it might be a non-starter mate, as no-one seems too interested by the looks of it.

Lord Brass! Esteemed collegue! For give my lateness to the floor, but I have been hunting down South for a bit. I whole heartedly agree! While the rulership of the Grand Dukes of our fine city has been thus far, that bit of corruption that allowed Sarevok a Ducal title shows the flaws of this system. We cannot be beholden to the whims of the Dukes if we want our glorious city to grow beyond some little back water. We need a forum with established means of promugating new ideas pertinent to the continued welfare of our grand city.

A constitution is in order to keep order amoung the politico's of the Gate. The afore mentioned debate on kobold integration shows a failure on our part to come to a consensus in a timely fashion. That debacle led to the great monetary waste at Area 51, our collegue Mr Underhill being allegedly kidnapped, and the wholesale burning and destruction of a kobold village (though I'm not sure this is an entirely bad thing).

As the leader and founding member of one of our more established and prestigeous factions I suggest you propose the first guideline of our new constitution. I eagerly await the opportunity to help mold a brave new future for our grand city.
