Vote - Should EfU change to Server vault?

I have been seeing more and more players with crazy items and weapons that do 200+ damage PER hit, and more. I personally think that if we went to the Server Vault that it would make fights, items and the SPECIAL items like 'rare' 'unique' and set items a LOT more 'special' and worth more. Also, every single thing you would own and wear would come from the Mod. Many of you know that the most popular and busiest NWN Mods are ALL server vault--meaning no local characters. I was thinking of changing over, and MAYBE run a local vault AND a server vault on two PC's here.. Anyway, Please vote.

I voted yes but one question. With Server valt can we still import our local characters ( i.e ones Ive created in a leveler mod ) but when we log in it strips them of all items?

no, you have to make a completely new character on the server vault. there is a special script for local characters getting stripped at the very begining of the module entrance its either that or having Z make a person that can level up all the way to 40 your character. i would hate it if i have to start all the way to lvl 1 again.

Remember Ziroc May still keep the local Vault Game too. He wants to know If we would Play on a Server Vault if he made it also, that would keep the UBER punks out of Undermountain!!
From what I understand about a server vault is, you start with a brand new PC and everytime you play you use that same PC. He then gains levels just like if you were playing a single player game and everytime you return to the server that PC will be there waiting for you at what ever level you left off at. That way you gain all Gold,levels,armor,equipment,everything in the server vault. If your playing and you've made it to the 7th level of Undermountain and have to leave and can't come back for a week or two its OK when you return you'll still be on level 7 and your PC will be saved in the server vault in Ziroc's computer instead of your personal Vault Known as the local Vault on your computer.

i know but i hate to start all the way from lvl 1. thats the only thing i dont like about it. i dont mind just using undermountains weapons.. they are uber as it is .

When will this occur? I just gen'd a new character, and don't want to waste time if we are going to server vault.

I am all for it either way? I wouldnt mind starting over a few characters, and I wouldnt mind using the characters I have. Most of my characters are very well balanced and non-uber, The have been actual characters I have had in the table top pencil and paper D&D game for nearly 20 years.

If Z decides to use server vault, I will just start them over again

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of having EfU on a server Vault. This may be one of the best things to happen to EfU since day one. No more Uber characters blasting by you laying waste to everything that crosses their path just as fast as they can. Then when you get to the next area with the three friends that you had been doing a pretty good job of role playing and shairing in the treasures and fun.
Q! what do you find in the area after Uber Knight passes you?
Ans! Little bags and strange looking gauntlets that say theasure when when you pass your curser over them.
Q! Are you still having fun?
Q! Did you find out what kind of creature left this treasure?
Q! Will they respawn or should just move on and forget about that area?
Q! Are you wondering if you should just go play Morrowind or some other single player game where you won't have to worry about some super over powered PC running by and messing up your game time?

Answer? These are some of the things that go through my mind everytime an Uber character runs past me in the EfU server. Sometimes I wish I had a super power Blaster that I could just disintegate the Uber PC and blow him or her right off the server, and they would never even know what hit them. Think about it! If everytime you wanted to drive to the store to buy some Beer or soda and befor you got There some super rich dude flew past you and got to the store and bought every bottle of beer and every can of soda. Then you arrive at the store just as super rich guy was leaving. You go into the store and what do you see left on the shelves? Viniger and Prune Juice!! and this happened every time you went to the store. Sooner or later you would want get hold of one of those Blasters. LOL

This Is what I experance almost every time I get into EfU.
Sometimes I'll get on the server and what do I find? 4 or 5 Ubers on level 10-12 and 4 or 5 regular PC's somewhere near the inn or the Inns cellar and maybe 1 or 2 PC's on level 2,3 or 4.
when I see this, I check the PC'S to see what kind of Characters they are. If they are all legal I will do a little exploreing or try out a couple of different PC's I have built to get the feel of useing the different Character types. If I find they are mostly Uber I just shut down my game and watch T.V. or play some other game.

Any way I really want the EfU Server Vault. I want to build a character from scratch and then try my luck going down into the well to see if my low level PC can survive the levels one at a time. Game play would be more like what the original PnP game and what most other RPG games were ment to be played. If I wanted to play with superman I'd go buy a comic book.

BTW, I would have a 'training' room that would bring any new character to level 7. So you will have a chance in the first level of undermountain. If I did do this, I would have to change the way respawning dying players come back. So they don't have to respawn right inside a crowd of monsters waiting over ya. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Z, I was in EfU not more than 2 minuets ago (posted time) and was happily enjoying myself at the begining of level 4.

A player joined, then, i was watching where they were by passing my cursor over them. They came to level 3, then to level 4, laid waste to everything thing around me and then moved on deeper into the level.

I decided to go back up, and venture deeper, level 10 sounded nice and the mod was fresh. I apeared in level 10, hacked up the dwarves there, when the same character appeared on level 10 as well, with a friend!!

Both of them wasted everything in 1 hit, they were doing 250-400 damage a swing!!!!

That to me is not AD&D gaming. If someone came into one of my table top games with a character like that I would hand it right back and not allow it to be played.

If Server Vault will stop these schmucks from coming in and ruining my enjoyment of the game ( sounds selfish I know) then by all means you have my support.

We have chatted in the game, you have seen me play and get my ass kicked. You know I dont make super uber characters but enjoy the challange you put forth by making realistic ( if that term fits ) characters that take injury, die, and can spend quite a bit of time fighting some of your creations.

Today kind of spoiled my mood. I have the day off, sat down for some EfU action with my level 34 Paladin, and 2 people just pissed me off by following me, and killing everything around me in single hits.

I will try going back in a bit later on today. Sorry if this post seems selfish or 1 sided, I am just a bit erked at the moment.
