As I posted earlier, my gadgeteer was quite the lame one in the early game. I picked him because I thought he would be an interesting party member and might add to the adventure. No thought was ever given to would he/she help me beat the game.
It is quite conceiveable that at games end, he might be my most powerful member. His omnigun is getting stronger and stronger and now takes just about any ammo. But it is the gadgets that he can create that are turning him into a power house. One devise I am using heavily is the port-a-potty. The noxious fumes this gadet creates is equivelant to the piercing pipes of the Bard. And like the piercing pipes it never runs out of charges (but like the piercing pipes it does us stamina). I am not powerful enough to use the heal all gadget I created but once, I am that will be one load off my priest. His attributes are great in that at level 15 he has maxed out dex and intel and is now getting the expert skills. But I made some mistakes in skill point allocation in the early game and I'm paying the price for being a little behind where I should be but overall I am very pleased. Curiously, Wiz 8 pulled of the gadgeteer profession better than Arcanium, which was supposed to be all about gadgets and magic. |

Arcanum was a good idea, and a pretty good game. When it came right down to it, though, persuing the technological side of it made you pretty weak. If they had made the tech side a bit more powerful, with a few more unique items and things, then I would have enjoyed it more.

I love my Gagdeteer also (Level 11). I find it quite enjoyable to see what he will do to the Omnigun next. And the Gagdetes are absolutely wonderful. The Jack in the Box has saved my but on a few occaisions. It is also nice to know he will get a heal all in the future.
As to Arcanum, I really enjoyed the game and if Wizardry 8 had not come out I would probably still be playing it. I loved the challenge of playing a technologist and found with the right mix of skills they were very powerful. I thought the magic side of things was way overbalanced and made the game to easy with only the use of a few low level spells. |

The Gadgetter definitely rocks but he needs an item belt, like a tool belt LOL!
