Maybe I am batty here. Twilight bats went from level 4 or 5 to nine? I think some of these critters can move up the ladder without changing their names. We change names (titles?). Why shouldn't they?

A glitch maybe? or just another type of bats? or the monsters can level up too.

I'm making a list of all monsters i meet. There are many monsters in the game which exists twice (or, in some cases, more often). The higher level one often has higher resitances, and more or other attacks.
They don't level up, otherwise a range of levels should be possible, but i always get the same levels. BTW back to your example: In my list, i don't have level 4 or 5 twilight bats yet. |

As Kakero says, maybe another kind of bat. I guess the names are similar. Are the levels of all critters fixed or can they be different with the same name?

I think that the monsters can still have the same name and a different level. it just depends on how far you are and where you are. Like if you are in trynton, the wasps will be harder than the ones on the arnika-trynton road. at least thats my experience.

According to my list, i met for example level 17 and level 21 Granite Golems, but no other levels. Or level 10 and level 12 Vampire Bats, or level 4 and level 6 Wolf Spiders, or level 15 and level 20 Oozites. I think they are different monsters in some data file, but with the same name.
In the Arnika road, there are two level 5 'Wasps' (no other name). In this case, the general name is used as the individual name for this kind of wasps. I sometimes meet a goup of these level 5 wasps in Trynton, together with stronger ones. On AT road, i normally meet Blinding Wasps (level 8). In trynton, i meet them too sometimes, but often Swarming Wasps (level 12). With bad Mythology, both might be reported as 'Wasps' in the first round of combat. |

Thanks. I'm not losing my mind. Not yet. The comment from Wearboar is valid about how the identification is generic at first. But a Twilight Bat is a Twilight Bat, or should be. It looks like they have step changes in their power! Not a big deal, except I thought they were easier foes than they became later. If that makes any sense.
