The fists inflicted damage (SoA):
- Level 1-2: 1-6 - Level 3-5: 1-8 - Level 6-8: 1-10 - Level 9-14: 1-12 - Level 15+: 1-20 9th level - the fists are considered a +1 weapon 12th level - +2 15th level - +3 The monk's natural AC starts off at 9, decreasing by 1 for every two levels.

The Monks AC progression changes at a certain level in TOB - the TOB manual has the details.

With suffucuent level, (Dundee's correct) his fists become +4 weapons. They deal 1d20 damage with each hit.
Damage as follows: fists: 1d20+4 strength bonus: (girdle of fire giant strength) 10 gauntlets of crushing: +4 bonus This gives you a damage range of 19-38 with each hit, and you will eventually attack 4 times per round. Natural AC becomes very low. It starts at 9 and decreases by 1 every 2 levels until level 20 (so +10 AC there). He then gets a further +1 at levels 21, 24, 27, 30, 35 and 40 (so another +6 there) gives him a natural AC of -7. Add DEX bonus (+4 AC for 18) = -11. They also pretty much become immune to missile weapons as they get missile deflection every 3 levels (futher -1 AC vs missiles). Monks can also wear Keldon's Firecam armour if they have sufficient strength, constitution and charisma. (won't lower AC but will give AC modifiers for different weapon types as per full plate mail) There ya go |

Add in some selected magic items and i believe you can get the AC down to -17 without spells. That makes the monk one tough cookie.

Check this for virtual missile immunity:
level 40 monk has base AC of -11 including bonus for DEX. Ring of Gaxx = +2 (-13) Ring of earth control = +1 (-14) Katana off Dierdrie (name?) = +1 (-15) Lavender loun stone = +1 (-16) And add missile adjustment: Missile AC adjustment = -1 every 3 levels = -13 @ level 40 (-29) Shield Amulet = +2 VS missiles (-31) Cloak of Displacement = +4 VS missiles (-35) Girdle of Piercing = +3 VS missile (-38) Boots of Avoidance = +5 VS missile (-43) Firecam armour Adjustment = +3 VS missile -46!!!!!! Even a MAXED archer with heartseaker + aim + bracers of archery will struggle to hit this. Weeeeeeee! |

THanx everybody for the reply, but does the fist damage go over 1-20 if u get to lvl 40 or something with exp cap remover? And is there actully a weapon that's good for a monk so he has a better weapon than his fists? Or are the fists the best?? Thx for the replies and can monks wear all items except mage robes and armor? Can they wear cloaks?

Spoiler
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . There are a pair of gauntlets of smiting that add +4 to hit and +4 to damage to fist attacks. And I don't know if you can improve on the fist attacks considering that no weapon does 1d20.

quote: crushing my friend, crushing....(refer to my earlier reply) The fist is the best weapon a monk can use, except for maybe at the beginning of the game where they are really lousy, in which case there is a schimitar and a ninja-to which provide an additional attack per round. Max damage of fists is 1D20+4 (again....refering to an earlier post)......no weapon will deal above this anyway. Jim out |
