Lots of Ironworks members seem to be interested in playing wow, I think it would be great if we all played on the same server if possible.
Do you guys know what you'll be playing? I tried every races and classes, I think they were all fun in their ways and all different. I first made a Night Elf fighter because I wanted to get a quick glance at the game before really chosing, and fighters are usually pretty simple to play. I was pleasently surprised. Fighters get lots of different skills. Some that slow ennemies, some that do more damage, defensive, offensive, different fighting stances... To use their skills, they use Rage points. When they are hitting monsters or getting hit, their rage raise, and when they are out of battle, their rage lower. This mean that as long as you're fighting, you'll be able to use skills. Rogue are different. They get cool skills, they can hide and sneak, they can backstab, pickpocket monsters... One of my favorite strategy was to sneak behind a monster and backstab it. It would turn to face me and I'd eye gouge it, get back it again and do another backstab. Rogues use energy points for their skills. Energy raise over time, but way faster than mana. This mean that when you're full you can do about 3-4 moves, and then another one about every 3-4 seconds. Spellcasting classes use the traditional mana. Warlock get to summon pets, and they can teach skills to their pets. Hunters are better at ranged and can tame monsters.... Druid are really cool, because they are basically multiple classes in one. In normal shape, they are spellcasters using mana. They can heal, buff, have some attack spells. In Bear shape, they get fighting skills and use rage. In tiger shape, they have energy and get rogue like skills. They also get an aquatic shape and a travel shape, but I never saw those. So far, I think I liked the horde races more than the alliance ones. I think it's partly because their areas are way better. In hordeland, you get a perfect progression. You start in the newbie area, and by the time you have done all their quest, you're ready to get into the next area. You do that area's quests, and you're ready for the next. The human land is very spread out, and quests send you all over the place, even in more dangerous territory for you. Also, I couldn't just progress by doing quests. After finishing a batch of quests, I was often too weak for the next, so I had to beat random monsters to level. Their quest are also a lot less interesting. Orcs are fighting human invaders, a demon cult, and some harpies, Tauren are having trouble with Dwarves and goblins mining and harvesting in their land. Trolls have the same quests as the orcs, but they also have to fight an evil tribe of Troll living on some islands. Undead are fighting Arthas's undead, a cult of anti undead human, and get to attack human villager npcs. Playing an hundead and pillaging some human farms has to be the greatest role playing experience ever. It also helped that I skipped some areas and was too weak for those quests, It was so fun having to sneak around human farmlands to steal pumpkins and being chased by farmers with pitchfork. Human quests of that same level range is about helping farmers settle arguments between each other by fetching things, investigating some mines for the guards, and other such boring stuff... The night elves area was ok, they had lots of nature oriented quests and I had fun. It just suck that's it's one of the most populated racial area. So far I'm hesitating about what I want to play as. I really liked playing the Druid and the Warlock, but I think my favorite race is the Troll. Sadly, they can't be either of those classes. So I'm hesitating between a Troll Mage, a Tauren Druid or a Undead/orc Warlock. There's also one of my friend that want to play as a human, and I haven't been able to convince him to play as horde yet. How about you?

Well... I was playing on Alextrasza in the stress tess. That's the only server name I remember.
I think there was a pvp server based on the last boss in the Frozen Throne. Edit: When I get the time, I'll write an article on "Why playing as Horde is the best choice". [ 10-19-2004, 06:51 AM: Message edited by: Luvian ]

I've always liked Orcs. Partly beacuse of there animation, and partly just because I think they look cool. I would be up for playing on the same server, can't wait for the game!

You know, I was in the stress test and I remember agreeing to a confidentiality thing...I don't think we are allowed to release anymore information than is on the site.

I'm pretty sure the NDA ended way before the Stress Test. In fact, everything about the game has been said and posted already. Every single skills, recipe, quests, items... If it's in now, it's been posted.
You could have getten the info I posted on the official website/forum or on any good fansite.
