I came upon Viconia tied to the pile of wood with a crowd preparing to burn her to death. In the course of the dialogue between my main character and the protagonist I came upon the option, "I demand that you release her!" (anyway, that's pretty close). Nothing happened other than their refusal to not stop and eventually they burned her up. All the time their "rings" remained blue in color -- even after my demand. So I reloaded and this time I cast stinking cloud and knocked everyone out. I tried to then untie Viconia but could not find a way. When the cloud dissipated, everyone remained blue circled (they never got angry for being cast upon), and they went ahead and did the deed. Then I tried to entice some battle after my demand. So I magic missled the protagonist. That got their attention. Unfortuantly in the melee' some of the commoners were killed and my reputation went from 14 to 4. Can anybody say reload again? So, how does one successfully release Viconia? And is it possible to engage the weaponed/armored individuals there and take them out, while not hurting or killing the commoners, without losing reputation? Thanks!

If you click on the stake she is tied to she will be cut lose.
A battle will ensue with the fanatics but you will not lose reputation untill Viconia joins you.When you accept her in the party your rep drops by 2 points.

You will have to click twice on the stake she is attatched to, to release her.... The crowd will not be too happy and the guards will attack yu. You will not lose any reputation points for killing these guards.. You will lose 2 rep points if you let her join your group......

Also, make sure you untie her when you first visit the Government district if you do look around near her..otherwise next time u come back she will be turned to ashes..and you cant do anything about it
