A while ago my friend wrote a fanfic for ff7 in which she depicted some homosexuality. A very annoying lad called "James Asheer" started sending her repetitive hate e-mails. They were full of four letter expletives, nasty snide comments and homophobia. ("Homosexuality is a disgusting thing and it is totally wrong"). I managed to convince him to stop, mostly by having friends sign him up for as many gay porn sites as possible. A few months later, and he's back. Neveah-the girl he originally harrassed-has had no e-mails from him, but he did flame me. So, in what I guess is overkill, I correctly guessed his a) fanfiction.net password b) e-mail address password and c) AIM password. I have since changed the passwords of all three. Now, is this overkill for an annoying stalker? (Yes, I did take the opportunity to change his profiles to ones which would embarass him. So sue me.)

Well homophobes do need to realise that people can't help what they feel. I'm not saying i'm pro-homosexual, but I dont shun them. As for changing the passwords, you go girl I really do get annoyed with any form of homophobia (or anything such as rasicm etc). It sucks. So I think he does need to learn..

Sounds justified to me. I would have sent some emails to his ISP first though, you might get lucky and having his internet connection severed would annoy him a lot more. Plus you would still have the oppertunity to change his passwords.

The first time he started stalking Neveah, I tried to get lycos to remove his e-mail address. They didn't.

Not really. There're some 'legal' things you've gotta take into consideration, ie Terms of Service when you signed up to FanFiction probably disagree with what you've done. But then, he's probably broken these rules himself through flames. So, in this case, two wrongs make a great Good work.
My nephew is on FanFiction, but he never gets flamed. I've always seen it as a nice place, though I've never registered there myself. I don't need anybody to tell me my work is great

Funny, nobody complained when Galadria's characters did lesbian things, just the explicit parts. Was this what they call "slash?" I've noticed that lots of people have problems with that. Or, maybe IW is just more tolerant than that other site.

Kat, I would perhaps call the changing of his profile "over kill". |
