Saw this website yesterday. Shows you the extent of what happened at Chernobyl those many years ago. 1986.

Wow, it's pretty spooky imagining what it would be like to walk those streets now. Some of the quotes that kinda stuck with me...
Radiation sit on earth, on the grass, in apples and mushrooms. It is not on asphalt, which makes (motorcycle) rides through this area safe. I always go for rides alone, because not need anyone to rise dust and I had never problems with dosimeter guys. They are on check points and if they will find radiation on you vehicle, they give a chemical shower and this eat ya bike... ...Some tourists companies have been trying to arrange extrim tours in this town (that held 50,000!), but people- their customers scared and complaining about silence which is hard to stand in empty town. They charged 1200 hryvnas for 2 hours excursion and town guard says, they all were leaving in some 15 mins, complaining that silense is tremendous as if one got deaf and it ring them in ears and place is bad...

Hey, cool site, Z. Really interesting to read about that place. And yeah I have been in a place where it's really quiet, no sound at all and it does seem like you have gone deaf. It is pretty uncomfortable so I can imagine what it'd be like walking through that ghost town.

I agree, very cool site. Looking at the ghost city I could just imagine how it would be, total silence, yet also Loud in its silence, so unnatural and a bit hair raising. I read they have tours there sometimes, but most want to leave after 15 minutes because of the creepy silence. And the picture of that tallest highrise on the roof where they all saw the "shiny" coming from the plant was also creepy to look and and imagine.

Total silence...
"No sound but the buzzing... Yes, the buzzing... So-called." I can't imagine how eerie that must be.

Can't imagine how total silence would be like. The town guard must be a brave man to live there.
