What is Runescape? What is it like to play, is it good? It was suggested by a friend but he didn't have time to tell me about it.

Actually, RS is a fun game if you like grinding and doing the same thing for hours/days/weeks.
I played it for some years, but I Had some long breaks now and then.
The graphic is bad and the game is full of beggars, scammers and such.

If I had started played it today, I wouldn't play for more than 2hours. The beginning is boring.

My character can move all across the world map.

I stopped to play the summer of 2005 and I haven't played it since.

I really don't recommend it to anyone unless you really like grinding week after week! [img]tongue.gif[/img]

It's a game that would have been considered horrible even 10 years ago. Try these if you want decent free online games.

Or better yet, get Guild Wars.

Actully RS do have some things that make, uhm.. not a good game but worth playing although.
The PvP in the RS is quite good and some other stuff.
That is what keep attracting new players to play.
Last night I looked at the mmochart and saw that RS in 4th place in market share so it is quite popular.

I played it. Yes, it does get addicting, but the noobs, scammers and all sorts of dickheads that play the game I thought, no this isn't why i chose this game. The pve side is crap too, when you die you lose your stuff. Losing your stuff from PvP is ok because the person who killed you earnt it, but you will find RS are nothing more than leeches, sucking on other peoples hard earned work. Runescape offers NO skills whatsoever, and i give the game a 4/10.

From the overwhelming response, I'll add in with: Get Guildwars instead. Do *not* give in to RS!

Cheers, maybe one day I will look in on RS, right now I'm trying to download all the bits I need for IW's EfU. Only another hour and a half to go!!

I played it for a while. 'twas fun, but I wish I had been playing WoW or GW during the time I spent on RS. The PvP aspect was what makes it unique: You actually get the other player's items when you kill them. This made PvP very competitive and dangerous. However, the game is mostly based on luck and time spent playing rather than skill, and just plain sucks if you dont spring the $5/month required to be a member.

My advice is to stay away unless you have several friends who also play that you can chill with. Even then, try to get them into a better game.
