Equip them on your head they act like helmets, and are useful for mages and thieves

an unlisted feature of them is that they do in fact prevent critical hits, so enjoy them and their benefits

For the longest time, the question for me was not what were they used for, but how do you PRONOUNCE "Ioun"? Once I decided that it began with an uppercase "I" and not a lowercase "L" I discovered that it was no easier to pronounce... To this day I'm vaguely unsure. I'm quite sure how to say it mentally, but I've never dared to form the actual word with my tongue.. I have enough problems without walking around with a huge knot in my tongue.

It is pronounced eye-youn, ok? By the way, unless it is in a balderdash fix then neither thieves nor mages can use Ioun stones. trust me I've tried and my Official patches are all up to date.
[ADDITION]To clear up any further argument about the pronunciation of this particular item, I think we'll all agree that most of it is subject to the accent, language, and dialect which we speak. [ 08-31-2002, 10:51 AM: Message edited by: Firestormalpha ]

Get the Baldurdash Fixpack and rid yourself of the bug that prevents Mages/Thieves from wearing Ioun Stones.
I pronounce Ioun as Ion( as in Ion Cannon). |

I pronounce the U. I also pronounce THAC0 as thay-ko (As in Red Wizards of Thay), while a guy I know says it thah-ko (as in "that").

Why do all the Ioun Stones have such drab colours.
I want a vibrant pink Ioun Stone! ..or something.

The Lavender Ioun Stone is kinda vibrant. It's in ToB.
Hm.. To further complicate matters, I have a friend who pronounces "Thay" as "Tay" (rhyming with "lay".) That's totally unneeded, but I'm just supplying everyone with a bit of surreality. Thank you, thank you.
