If you hit the Print Screen button, but not in a game or anything, where does your computer store the pictures?

If it's not a game screenshot I seem to not be able to find a dang thing LOL. Any help would be appreciated!

I believe it's just in memory, aka the clipboard... open wordpad or some such and try to paste it there.

I just tried that on my XP system, and it worked.

eh. I hit the Print Screen button many times, took pictures, not of a game, I went into wordpad, but that doesn't help me find where my pictures were saved at. And wordpad is for text only isn't it? Either way, I gotta know what to open first.

You may need to get a tool that does that. Wordpad is really a stripped-down MS Word. It can do more word processing things than Notepad (which is text only), including displaying pictures.

IOW, I *believe* it puts the image into the same place it puts it when you hit ctrl-C -- the system's memory. When you then hit ctrl-V, it takes it from memory and sticks it into whatever is active

OK well where do I find this Memory folder LOL? What's it called, Memory?

Sorry, I'm an idiot and really have no idea!

Sigh, maybe I'll figure it out tomorrow when I have a refreshed brain LOL.

Lol, LZ... ctrl v... paste.

There is no memory folder... you just open a document and paste it. That's it.

The printscreen button stores a 'screenshot' of the screen to a memory buffer. This buffer is overwritten if you press printscreen a second time with the new image.

You cannot directly access this memory buffer, you need to 'paste' the image data into an application for it to be of any use.

You could run Word, and Edit> Paste it in there.
You could run Paint and Edit> Paste it in there.

Ditto with nearly any application that can handle it.

However, you cannot directly access the memory buffer and 'preview' what you have. The data must always be exported.
