LOL! I'm really surprised to see that nobody's noticed yet that the name's actually Kuroisan.

If I'm not mistaken, Kuroisan should mean Mr. Black in Japanese(Kuroi + san). Also, Kami = God, and the last sentence he says before attacking, 'Iku yo!,' means 'let's go!'

Not that it actually matters.

Anyway yeah, I just saw him in the game for the first time. Thank god I was in a nice place from which I could easily lure him indoors(*SPOILER?* Mekrath's home in the sewers, up the stairs). He was a really mean sonuva.. But I was lucky to have Miss cheesy overpowered vampire Valen in my party, which was the primary reason why I won.

My partymembers had 400000-900000 experience points when I met him.

Rule #1: Know how cheesy he is. He's wearing an undroppable Ring of Gaxx and undroppable Cloak of Mirroring, so all attempts to use direct-damage spells and Poison will be nullified. Another good reason not to use Poison is that every time Kuroisan takes damage, his Sword of Cheese fires a Melf's Acid Arrow at whoever did it. Therefore, low-damaging tactics (such as Insect Plague) are to be avoided under pain of death, while high-damage tactics (such as Backstabbing) are favorable. This Acidic Backlash also affects those who cast spells (even non-damaging spells) targeted at Kuroisan.

The only way to kill Kuroisan (short of Traps) before he Dimension Doors away is to lower his protections, and he uses a full battery of those. See Acidic Backlash, above.

Kuroisan's only real weakness is that he has no means of dispelling Invisiblity.

For now, your best solution is simply to dump Malakar in a rubbish bin somewhere.

Here's what I did: Haste everyone, Imp. Haste the person that Kuro is attacking. Make sure to run around him so that he never actually hits you with the katana. Wait for a bit (15 rounds or so) so that his SIs are gone. Breach and bash. It can be a good idea to slowly strip away his Death Fogs by summoning Gnolls or something right in front of him, while summoning your real force in a corner. Haste them as well. If you have two Clerics, or a Cleric and a Druid, the Druid can stand there and repeatedly Heal the person that Kuro's attacking, but make sure that the person is running around. Heal can start with the priest just touching the person, so if you play a little game of tag, it often works wonders. Also, since Melf's is a relatively low-damage spell, keep the Cleric casting Mass Cures, while everyone who's bashing keeps chugging potions.

Memorize lots of breach, Improved invisibility+protection from magical weapons+breach=dead kuroisan. Have aerie to be the undamagable bait and backstab him.

I tend to use katanas and specially CF so this is what I do with mid-low level party. It´s a little cheesy to use foreknowledge like this to beat him but it is a legit way.

All you need is 2 PfMW scrolls and 3+ breach. When Kuroisan appears start running to avoid those 2 clouds he shoots. Then take your stand and have your PC cast first PfMW (not in city area) and go stand next to Kuroisan. He is stupid enough to keep pounding that protected character. Now the rest of the party can do what ever you want. Cast breach with Aerie and start hitting Kuroisan with everything you got. He uses another scroll of PfMW; breach with yuor PC and continue hitting him with your whole arsenal.

Hope that he`ll die in 2 turns since at this poin whole party tends to be in a BAD condition. If not use 2:nd PfMW scroll and 1) keep breeching/beating 2) start running.

Needless to say you need a stack of healing potions and potions of X-giants strength won´t hurt either. God thing with acidic backlash is that it doesn´t chunkify anyone so all you lose is some money.

Where do you need taht sword anyway? At that point of the game running around with Sanch=)(/& (spl=) is a bit overkill.

I cheated Malakar into Chateau Irenicus to give my Jester a little bit better AC advantage (-2 vs slashing weapons). I simply forgot that Kuroisan will attack the party if you're carrying ANY katana. I thought he only came after Celestial Fury.

Thanks for all the tips and advice so far.

LennonCook - Great idea about fighting him where I can cast spells. Using that tactic, I had my group retreat to the upstairs room of the Seven Vales Inn. Since this is my temporary HQ (until I get a real stronghold), I had Yoshimo set lots of traps at the top of the stairs. I'm planning to use Joker as bait and try to just run around avoiding his attacks until he uses up his PfMW's, then run back inside and have him chase me upstairs where the group will be waiting in ambush.

Dace - even though Joker is Neutral Evil, I decided to have pity on the kiddies. I'm setting up my outside traps on the second level above the Adventurer's Mart - far away from any innocent non-belligerents.

SixofSpades - thanks for the info about the Ring of Gaxx and Cloak of Mirroring (how I wish he would drop those too). I didn't realize my poison bolts would be ineffective against him. Guess I'll need a different strategy.

Assassin, Black Baron, Jani - thanks for all the different strategy ideas. Joker doesn't have Breach yet (unfortunately). Neither does Aerie (that I could see). Guess I'll need to buy a few scrolls before the actual fight starts. I enjoyed reading all of the different strategies used against the Big K. I'll probably try a mix of all of them.

One thing I did decide to do was track down this merchant Jafir that the little girl outside the circus told us about. Turns out, he wasn't a merchant at all - but a Raksasha!!! He offered to "sell" the command word for the lamp he had given Kalah for a mere 500gp. I offered to just gut him if he didn't give us the command word. We reached a suitable compromise after a brief (but nasty) melee'. He gave us the command word and teleported away before we could skin his stinkin' hide.

So now I have a magic lamp to go along with those wonderful acorns I got from Ilyach. I tried to use the lamp against K, but when I clicked on the lamp, I got the little crescent and star symbol that appears when you cast a spell (which is not what I expected. I thought a djinni would appear).

So - does anybody know what this lamp does and how to use it properly?

It is a limited wish spell. You will have the djinni, no worries. Equip it in the quick item slot and use it. It will give you the option of wail of banshee, so if you wish to kill him with it, that's the ticket.

If I recall correctly, Kuroisan will attack only if you have either Celestial Fury or Malakar. No other katana attracts his attention.

And that magic lamp.. Just click it and then point the 'spell' to ground and the genie will appear.

Very Cool!!! I'll give it a try.

BTW, I did try my luck against Kuroisan again this morning after setting my traps in the Seven Vales Inn. I then went to the second level above the Adventurer's Mart and had Yoshimo set some traps there too (the first time I faced Kuroisan, I finally killed him by having a bucketload of traps set and he happened to teleport right into the middle of them when he first appeared. That not knocked him down to Near Death right from the start, it also prevented him from casting ANY of his protection spells. The party jumped on him like a pack of dogs after the last bit of steakbone).

Alas, he failed to appear in the traps (most deeeviously set by Yoshimo) and luring him into them after his protections were up had little to no effect.

Still, I faced him bravely and valiantly. I also died very quickly. So it's time to try bringing out the djinni ahead of time, before my Improved Invisibility wears off and Big K comes after with his Katana of Quisenart.

Hmmmmm....well I managed to summon the djinni and looked over the list of options, but didn't see "Wail of the Bansee" listed. So either my Wisdom is not high enough to get that option, or it is a trick answer to one of the questions.

Which option gives "Wail of the Banshee" if it isn't specifically listed?
