That's right, I have succesully finished Durlags, beat the DK, gone to Ulgoths to return the dagger, been ambushed by the Cult, beat them, entered the temple, cleared the top floor. I've quicksaved,as below is Aec Letec (SP??), final boss of ToTSC. How do I know he is there? Because I have reloaded that quicksave 5/6 times now. Once i beat him, but lost a member to Deathgaze. I had to reload. Another time i beat him, but didnt get the end demo saying I'd done ToTSC. I reloaded. The rest, he beat me. Deathgaze.

I start the fight as usual, cast Haste, Bless, Defensive Harmony, Protection From Evil. All is well. He usually holds a few people.

BIG SPOILER:

I have sussed that when he dies, he takes over one of the bodies from his cult...so therefore they need to die first.

The problem is, Deathgaze. It's a bitch of an attack, and one I havent yet found the cure too. I dnt have time mid battle. Dispel Magic? Dispel Curse? Has anyone found out how to resist this attack, or cure it before my member turns into the ghast?

And is there any other history anyone knows of Aec letec?

Wonders will never cease. After making this post, I went and tried again.

In the fight, I did my ritual,,,haste....etc.

I used the monster summoning wand once, and I attacked Aec'Letec with the Hobgoblins.

There was only one cult member left, as I had killed the remainding 5 using stealth before the fight started.

Ok, so in the fight, he casts Death Gaze. As you know, it casts hold, and then there is a percentage that the recipiant will catch a disease, and die.

He cast it. Luckily, no one caught the bug. Two members were held, but I could work out why Aec wasnt moving. He died shortly after.

I checked the battlelog after the demo, and after scrolling up, it appears that Aec'Letec cast Deathgaze, held Kivan and Minsc, held 90% of the hobgoblins, but also held himself.

Deathgaze somehow reveresed, and held him!!

I won, because of this....how did this happen? I dunno, but I am very grateful. hehe...Aec'Letec no more...but he was a tought fight, the first 8 times

EDIT - Just commenting, that I thought the Demonknight was a very easy fight, almost too easy....But as I mentioned, I thought Aec'Letec was very hard..until he made his mistake!

The Death Gaze can be dispelled with a dispel Magic spell. Just make sure 2 of you chars have several of them memorized. You will see a small symbol on the char portraits if one is affected by deathgaze.

As for the hold spell, the demon casts, I found that if you run in front of the Demon with a few chars during he casts his first hold spell, he sometimes holds itself (maybe sometimes he just passes his saving throw)

I didn't try to take out the cult members by stealth before the fight by now, but maybe I should try it next time. My biggest problem was always that it took quite a while to kill the cultists and the demon, although I kept him busy with summoned creatures, always deathgazes my party (thus I have to cast dispel magic during the fight, which takes additional time).

Yes, dispel magic works so does a potion of mirrored eyes. What happened, imo, when he holds himself is that the game probably sees the death gaze as an area of effect spell like fireball. Therefor if he casts it at someone who is close to him, he himself might get cought in the area of effect. It's just a guess really, but it might explain things.

Another idea might be to summon a vast army of creatures to keep hm occupied. I expended both of my summoning wands and my spell inventory of summoning spells to keep that damn demon busy while the party dealt with the Cultists.

Shooting arrows of dispelling at Death gaze affected players should work also.

Luckily, when I won the fight, it all went swimmingly...not one death gaze victim, and he held himself. Nice hard fight though, would have been much harder if I didn't take out the cult members using stealth!!

I used monster wands also, just to take away his stare...
