I finally got another copy of Baldur's Gate along with Tales of the Sword Coast. I breezed through the Ice Dungeon and Werewolf Island and did pretty well until I got to level 6 in Durlag's Tower. I have beaten him a few times, but I always lose one of my better fighters in the process. I have myself (Fighter), Minsc, Khalid, Dynaheir, Imeon and Jaheira. Unfortunately, I used most of the last of my arrows against he Battle Horrors to get the Bone Rune and have only about 15 left. I have been casting Haste and Fire Protection on the first three while they rush in to attack him with swords and a battle axe...using the wand of monster summoning and shooting arrors and miscast magic spells at him. I usually lose Minsc or Khalid during the battle b/c of his dispel magic and fireball spells. Any suggestions on a different approach?

Anyway, can't wait to finish this and then take out Sarevok and move on to Baldur's Gate 2 which I also got!

Peace, John.

If you know that you're just outside the final battle of a dungeon, and your party has pretty much exhausted its repotoire of spells for the day, it's perfectly all right to grab a nap beforehand, especially if you know that the big mean boss is Undead, and therefore not likely to get impatient and come out to get you while you're sleeping.

Ironically, the first time I tried it after posting I beat him while only suffering one minor blow. LOL Finaly dawned on my to have Khalid (who had the miscast magic battle axe) get there quick to start bashing and stop his spells.

My latest adventure has me fighting the demon in the cultist house. Not a fun fight thus far, but I have a few ideas I haven't tried.

Yeah, that would be the hardest fight in the game you're coming too now. Have fun with it. Are you taking your character through to BG2?

The 'cloudkill and run around in circles' always seems to work in my experience.

I do plan to take him into Baldur's Gate 2...will probably begin sometime this week. Deciding whether to specialize him will be fun. Currently he is a plain Fighter.

I've always considered the original BG1 boss to be the hardest. But yeah, the Demonknight is kinda nasty.
