"April 08, 2004 - The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday published with news that famed director John Woo had picked up the option to produce a feature film based on Nintendo's sci-fi license Metroid. Woo did not announce whether or not he would helm the picture himself or if it would be handed off to another director, but the studios involved with the project indicated that it would receive a substantial budget.

The Metroid movie will focus on the beginnings of Samus Aran's adventures. Those involved hope to tell the heroine's story with more background and detail than ever delivered before, and they also hope to attract a whole new audience of viewers outside the videogame arena. "

I dunno...it's one of those few games that actually has a solid enough story-line that it COULD work...though the killing of legions upon legions of space pirates wouldn't work... *smiles at fond memories of Metroid Prime*

Not as easily translatable to movie form as spiderman, but...

Only thing I'm worried about is the fact that movies like this always add a sidekick that just didn't exist...

Well I think it will probably show her being orphaned and growing up with the Chozo, well I hope so, because It would be interesting to see how they do it.

And which do you think would be best?
Completely Computer animated, or with real actors and sets?

You're not allowed to talk now, Hierophant!

*growls*

Though...the chozo storyline would be good...

Personally, I'd like them to go the spiderman route...have an actress for Samus, but CGI for the suit...
