So I just beat Metroid Prime. It took me about thirteen hours, but I finally beat it. It's perhaps one of the most difficult games I've ever played... Probably because I'm not used to playing games with a first-person interface. But I'm a fan of the series, and felt compelled to finish it.

Thoughts on the end of the game.
Spoilers, obviously.

Okay. Now, is it just me, or was the hardest part about the end of the game getting throught the Impact Crater? The Fission Metroids caused me more grief than Prime herself did. What's up with that? And what's with the Omega Pirate being the most difficult boss in the game? You'd think if the endgame boss isn't the most difficult, then the most difficult boss would be optional (Think Omega Weapon in Final Fantasy Eight). Whatever, though.

I'm going back to campus tomorrow, away from the GameCube, and away from my dreams of going through it again and getting a better score.

Ah, well. I'd still rather fight Prime than the Omega Pirate... or Ridley... Or that giant boss in the snow area... Thardus? And *especially* that plant thing in the sun tower. With the dishes. Talk about unconventional strategy. Since when is the Morph Ball faster than walking?

Edit: Hey, Dracolich!

(BOSS SPOILORS) (Boss names)

The impact crater really isn't that hard. You just gotta learn to ignore the fission metroids. If they get too close you can kill them instantly with a super bomb, and they don't split when you use the super bomb either. I pwned the Omega Pirate, wasn't much trouble for me at all, but you did say you hadn't played FPSs, so maybe that's why. I didn't find many bosses too overly difficult. I'd have to say the one I had the most trouble with was the plant thing, I was still getting use to the weapons system so it took me several tries. I just hated going through the pirate area in the Phendrana Drifts, major annoyance. I hate Space Pirates. Thardus... he pissed me off. I got him on my first try, but barely. The giant Sheegoth wasn't that hard once you figure out what to do. Metroid Prime overall wasn't that difficult, you just gotta keep moving.

lol, I love this game, and I only finished it a little while ago.
Thardus was no problem, mainly bacause a small bug allowed me to sort of "Hang" high on a wall where he couldnt get me.
I though the plant at the beginning was hard, but Prime (Part 2) was the hardest, mainly because I would be almost dead by then, but when I went and found most of the energy tanks it was a lot easier, I loved the ending, finally you get to see Samus in all her 3D glory.

I died at least twice on the plant thing, probably for the same reasons. I'd imagine if I went back and did it again I'd find it much easier... I also got Thardus on my first try, but barely. I hate that. I was in that place where you have just enough energy to give you a glimmer of hope to finish, but you're tense, because it's near the end and if you make one false move you need to start ALL OVER.

I really hated the pirate area in the Drifts... But most of all I hated the Phazon Mines. The only thing worse than the Phazon Mines was having to leave and come back with the Plasma Beam, and THEN coming back AGAIN for the Artifact. Granted, I used the back way, so it wasn't nearly as bad as, say, going through all those security stations, but the idea of heading back there greatly annoyed me.

Yeah... once I had gone through everything I realized "... I barely have any artifacts... crap." I used the clues and I swear I hated it so much. Took me FOREVER. The backtracking just drove me insane. I was pretty thankful for some of the backways.
