How easy is the Demonknight?

Once again, it was a really pitiful fight. Just done him now, and I didn't lose a single hitpoint....

I forgot how easy he was, as you always see posts about him being hard....

I've just searched back, reading the posts, and most are asking for help...except THIS ONE

Can't believe that was three years ago...

Did anyone else find him SO easy? The cult on re-entry to Ulgoths Beard is miles harder.

I'm just about to go do "the god", but I have a question.

I've completed Shandalars quest, and also completed Durlags. But, I have not tried Wolfwere island, as I've not even entered the Gate once yet, so I do not have the papers. Now, I remember someone telling me, that Aec'Letec was only available at the end of TotSC, so I'm just checking that even if I go and beat him now, I'll still be able to access Wolfwere island won't I?

I wish I could tell you, Lavindathar, but I saved Durlag's 'til last (except Sarevok obviously). I would imagine you could still complete Werewolf Island, but that's just a guess.

Man, Werewolves were CAKE compared to Durlag's Tower...

Hi Lavindathar, if you searched back through old posts, then what did you think of the way I dealt with the DK? (Oct 2004) I like the fights against these big bad monsters 'cos if you play smart then you can make fools of them.

As I understand it you can do the quests for TOTSC in any order. Happy adventuring.

From what I remember the last time I played it, Wolfwere island was harder than Durlags..

I didn't see your post MG, and I've just looked again!

Please post me the link, as I'd like to read it.

Just beat Aec'Letec!!!

Spoilers On How I Beat Them

The DK was awfully easy, I casted the following buffer spells:

Haste
Defensive Harmony
Chant
Charname/Kivan/Shar-Teel all took Potions of Frost Giant Strength

Kivan/Imoen - equipped with magical arrows (acid/ice/fire)

Branwen - equipped with bullets + 2

For this, basically I just walked in and killed him. Took about 12 seconds. He dispelled magic, and created the fireball. This damaged Shar-Teel badly, but 2seconds later was dead.

Very easy.

Aec'Letec:

Slightly harder, as I needed a couple of reloads.

Deathgaze, got me the first few times.

To differ from last time, I decided to not use the stealth method to kill the cult members...

So, I used the same setup as before, but added Bless as well.

My first tactic, was to cast Osiluke's Resiliant Sphere on the DK, and take him out of the battle, and kill the cult members. This worked well, until when he was freed, he got a shot in on Xan and killed him straight out.

Time for a reload...

Was going to repeat the tactic, but when he used Deathgaze on Branwen, luckily he held himself (same as last time).

Then, I just wiped the floor with everyone.

All 6 of my party members, are now around 150,000exp, so I should hit the experiance cap with all 6 no problem...bearing in mind I haven't even entered Baldurs Gate yet, or done the Wolfwere island.

I thought you got an item for killing Aec'Letec, (aside from the exp ), but I guess not. I didn't get a reward when I reported my deed to Hurgen (can't remember his name, please correct me!). The only dialogue option was something like:

I also didn't get a reward for speaking to Dalton's mother...do you need to collect something off his body in the Demonknights chamber, because I didn't, and upon speaking to her there was no option of dialogue that would allow me to confirm his death to her.

The deed is done. I need no reward, as this needed to be done

Is this the only dialogue available to everyone? Or just Paladins?

Just thought I'd let you all know!

Lavindathar, this was one of my many encounters with the DK - still a great BG moment to look back on.

Nice to see that you used Osiluke's Resiliant Sphere, it's a cool spell with some interesting (mis)uses.

The sphere can be great, but also not so great...depends on how you use it!

Very cool MG! Love the idea with Dalton!

So, Dalton was in there. Totally missed him lol.

Aec'Letec is instantly killed by Cloudkill. Otilukes on the tank and a few cloudkills centred on him/her is just what the doctor ordered.

Using Cloudkill makes this fight really easy (and a little unsporting!). I try not to use it unless I am playing one of my really weak parties, where fighting with him is a bad idea. I would then combine Stealth and Cloudkill for an elegant, risk-free solution.

Mix cloudkill with skull trap dn you create a nice cloud-trap, which equals skull-kill
